Claxton High School, accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, has a long tradition of excellence in academics and extra-curricular activities.  With the rollout of Georgia Performance Standards the rigor of the academic program for all students is elevated; thus, the primary goal of Claxton High School is to improve student learning.  This goal is achieved by promoting academic excellence, bringing parents together with teachers and administrators through the Career Action Planning program (CAPs), and offering instructional programs that address the needs of students and faculty.  Claxton High School utilizes a Pyramid of Intervention to ensure that individualized and specific interventions are used to permit greater access to grade level achievement standards.

Offering a 4x4 block schedule enables students to focus on fewer courses at one time while completing more courses during the school year.  Qualified students have the opportunity to participate in the Accel program and the Dual-Enrollment programs earning both high school and college credits simultaneously.  As a High Schools That Work Tech/Prep School, we offer challenging and exciting technical and career preparatory courses in Construction, Agricultural Education, Family and Consumer Science, and Business.

Students are also afforded the opportunity to excel outside the classroom through our many clubs and athletic teams. The wide variety of clubs, along with the club schedule designed so that three or more clubs meet each week, enables more students to participate and promote Claxton High School through expositions and competitions.  Claxton High School Tiger Pride is evidenced by our competitive football, softball, cross country, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, and track teams which have won  regional and state championships.  The Claxton High School Tiger Marching Band consistently receives superior and excellent ratings in competitions and festivals.  The Claxton High School Drama Team has successfully competed in regional and state events.

The faculty and staff of Claxton High School show Tiger Pride and commitment to bettering our students by their willingness to sponsor clubs, coach teams, supervise field trips, and serve as CAPs advisors for the over 500 students enrolled.  We are a student-focused school, and our determination to succeed is unmistakable.
