Our mission is to inspire all students to develop to their maximum potential by promoting achievement, self-discipline, and cooperation. Our students benefit from the high expectations of administrators and teachers dedicated to their academic and personal success.

The faculty and staff at Claxton Middle School believe in recognizing the value of the individual student by providing a curriculum that meets their intellectual, cultural, and physical needs. Our approach is that all students have the ability to learn, and this message is communicated to the students. We strive to offer all students an education delivered by competent, dedicated, and knowledgeable professionals. Additionally, the specific needs of students are met through equitable placement and instruction. Through the use of a Pyramid of Intervention, students, whose needs are not met via strategies afforded to all students, receive specific interventions designed to grant greater access to the given grade level standards.

Claxton Middle School offers block scheduling that is designed to facilitate instruction in a manner suitable for the middle school learner. All content area courses are aligned to the Georgia Performance Standards. Networked classroom computers and two research labs provide opportunities for students to not only explore topics related to the curriculum, but also, to enhance their computer literacy skills. Claxton Middle School also has an advanced placement language arts curriculum for qualified students in grades 6, 7, and 8.

Claxton Middle School is at a breaking point! We've made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the last five years. Our goal is to continue on this path as we strive to meet the academic needs of ALL students.
