Mrs. Julie Howard, Principal

Mrs. Julie Howard holds an Education Specialist in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Education in Middle Grades Education from Georgia Southern University, and a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education from Armstrong State University. Mrs. Howard has 27 years of experience in education and has served at the school and district level. Her career began as a 5th grade teacher before moving to the middle school level to teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Mathematics. She served as an instructional coach at both the middle and high school level and as the K-12 coordinator of curriculum and instruction at the district level.  Mrs. Howard has served as the Assistant Principal at Claxton Elementary for the past 3 years.  While in this role she has also served as the Evans County Pre-K Director and the Director of the Evans County Charter School System Daycare.

Rountree

Mrs. Sarah Rountree, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Sarah Rountree holds a Master’s in Reading with a Reading Endorsement from Georgia Southern University.  She also holds a Reading Specialist Certification along with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern.  Mrs. Rountree will begin working on her Specialist in Education degree in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University in May.

Mrs. Rountree is a 1995 graduate of Claxton High School.  She began her teaching career in 1999 at Claxton Elementary School, where she has continued to teach.  Mrs. Rountree taught Second Grade for 3 years and then looped to Third Grade where she taught for 11 years.  Mrs. Rountree served our English Speakers of Other Languages at CES for 6 years   For the past 2 years, Mrs. Rountree has been the Math Instructional Coach.

Saylor

Mrs. Blair Saylor, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Saylor holds a Master's in Educational Leadership and Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern University. She is currently enrolled at Valdosta State University working towards her Specialist in Educational Leadership.

Mrs. Saylor graduated from Claxton High School in 2007. In 2011, she began her teaching career at Claxton Elementary School. Since her start at Claxton Elementary, Mrs. Saylor has taught in prekindergarten, first grade, and third grade. In addition, she has coordinated the elementary school's virtual learning program and spent time as the mathematics instructional coach.

Bluestein

Mr. Eric Bluestein, Assistant Principal

Eric Bluestein began working in Evans County in 2001 and has enjoyed teaching Health/P.E. and coaching boys’ basketball in this county his entire career. He has coached the Varsity Boys since the 2006-2007 season. He has experience at both the elementary and high school levels throughout the years. Eric holds several degrees in higher education. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from Georgia Southern University in 2001 and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix in 2004. In 2021, Eric completed his Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership from Georgia College and State University. He is now transitioning into an Assistant Principal role at Claxton Elementary School this year. Eric is married to Lauren Bluestein, and they have one daughter, Maggy.
