Mrs. Tanita McDowell, Principal

Mrs. Tanita Peak McDowell currently holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, a Masters of Education degree in Educational Leadership, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision.  She is currently working to obtain her doctorate degree through Georgia Southern University in Educational Leadership.  Her work experience encompasses the elementary, middle, and high school levels serving as a teacher or an administrator for the past 20 years.

Tanner

Mrs. Fran Tanner, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Fran Tanner holds a Specialist in Education degree in Teacher Leadership from Valdosta State University, a Masters in Education degree in Middle Grades Education from Georgia Southern University, and a Bachelors degree in Middle Grades Education from Georgia Southern University. Mrs. Tanner holds Tier I Educational Leadership certification. Mrs. Tanner has worked in education for over 20 years as a teacher and an instructional coach.

Mr. Daerzio Harris, Assistant Principal

Mr. Daerzio Harris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgia Southern University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Albany State University. He is pursuing his Specialist in Education degree in Education Leadership from Albany State University. He has 15 years of experience in education and a wealth of instructional knowledge, having served in various roles such as middle school teacher, adjunct math professor, adult education instructor, and elementary school teacher. He also served on the Teacher Burnout Taskforce with the GaDOE. He joined the Claxton Middle School family as Assistant Principal in July 2023.
