September 5, 2023: The Evans County Charter School System (ECCSS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Marty Waters, Superintendent of ECCSS, to the esteemed Board of Directors of the Charter System Foundation of Georgia. This appointment reaffirms ECCSS’s commitment to college, career, and community-ready students, and it recognizes Dr. Waters' dedication to education and his exceptional leadership within the charter school community.

The Charter System Foundation of Georgia is an organization dedicated to promoting excellence and collaboration within Georgia's charter school systems. Dr. Waters' appointment reflects the Foundation's recognition of his visionary leadership, strategic insights, and commitment to the advancement of education.

As a member of the Foundation’s board, Dr. Waters will collaborate quarterly with the six other directors appointed from across our state. Dr. Waters brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Board of Directors. As the Superintendent of ECCSS, he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to advancing educational opportunities for students and fostering a supportive learning environment. His focus on innovation and student success aligns with the mission and goals of the Charter System Foundation of Georgia.

Dr. Kristy Vandenberg, ECCSS Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services, stated, “Having Dr. Waters serve as a Charter System Foundation Director is going to allow him the opportunity to work with educational leaders across the state to advocate for the unique needs of our students and community and bring awareness to others of the challenges our district faces as it strives to prepare all students for career, college, and community."
