April 19, 2024: An altercation occurred in the Claxton Middle School (CMS)/ Claxton High School (CHS) cafetorium this morning. Safety protocols at both campuses were implemented following the incident. Details are incomplete at this time, but early information indicates this conflict carried over from a community incident. The Claxton Police Department and school administration are actively investigating the situation.
Evans County Charter School System Superintendent, Dr. Marty Waters stated, “We have high standards of conduct that are expected of all students. Threatening messages, actions, and/or possessions will be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law. I commend our staff and local law enforcement for their actions today. I ask all parents and families to encourage your students to report any behavior that could in any way compromise their safety or the safety of others. Working together, we can maintain a safe educational experience for all students."
