Important Information Graphic

As we prepare to welcome our Tigers back, we’d like to share some important bus updates, and we’d like to ask all families to please help us prioritize safety in school zones, roadways,  and in school drop-off/ pick-up areas.

Transportation Updates

Due to an ongoing shortage of bus drivers, five routes will be combined to serve elementary, middle, and high school students. This adjustment ensures we can continue providing safe and reliable transportation for all Tiger families.

Families whose children are placed on one of the combined or single-loop buses will be notified directly by our Transportation Director, Ms. Tracy Cook. The remaining seven routes will be double-loop routes, and Ms. Cook will also share bus information for these routes directly with families. To receive this communication, it's essential that parents and guardians complete the Annual Updates in Campus Parent as soon as possible.

In addition to maintaining safety and reliability, our Tiger transportation team is actively working to improve services:

  • New route numbers and colored magnets now feature route numbers clearly displayed above the color magnet indicator for easier identification; this will be expanded to every ECCSS bus route

  • New routes are being developed to better serve our community

  • Transportation staff are participating in Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) training to foster respectful and inclusive bus environments

  • Team members are completing bullying prevention training to promote safety and kindness on every ride

  • Bus drivers are making practice runs of all routes next Tuesday, July 29

If you have any questions regarding bus transportation, please reach out to our Transportation Director, Ms. Tracy Cook, at 912-739-3547 or tcook@evanscountyschools.org

Safety Reminders for Roadways, School Zones, and Car Drop-off/Pick-up Areas

  • Slow Down: School zones are designated to protect our Tigers, families, and guests. It's crucial to abide by the reduced speed limits posted in these areas. Slowing down gives drivers more time to react to unexpected situations, reducing the risk of accidents.

  • Stay Alert: Humans can be unpredictable! Watch out for children crossing the road, waiting at bus stops, etc. Eliminate distractions while driving, so you can be fully focused on the road and its surroundings.

  • Stop for School Buses: When a school bus stops and extends its stop-arm, it means children are getting on or off. It is illegal to pass a school bus at this time, so always stop and wait until the bus stop-arm is retracted.

  • Practice Patience: School traffic can be slow-moving, especially during arrival and dismissal times, and even more so as we start the school year. We ask for and appreciate your patience as we are prioritizing student safety.

  • Spread Awareness: Please help us promote school zone safety in our community. Share safety tips with friends, family, and neighbors. The more people are aware, the safer we can be!

Thank you for your partnership and continued support as we work together to serve our students.
