August 8, 2025: On Friday, August 8, the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) released the 2024-2025 End-of-Grade (EOG) and End-of-Course (EOC) Georgia Milestones results.
EOG and EOC Georgia Milestones Assessments (GMAS) are designed to measure student proficiency of the learning outlined in the state-adopted content standards. Students are assessed in the areas of English language arts (ELA), math, science, and social studies. GMAS results include both achievement and progress data in order to provide all stakeholders with a more complete picture of the academic performance of students. Score report information includes levels of proficiency: Beginning Learners, Developing Learners, Proficient Learners, and Distinguished Learners. These levels of proficiency demonstrate achievement data for students. GMAS results for grades 4-8 and high school ELA and math will also include progress data when students have at least one prior score and a current score in the same content area. Student Growth Percentiles (SGPs) are the method used to show the relationship between prior and current achievement, and SGP data includes percentages of students achieving “typical” or “high” growth.
Although overall achievement scores are not yet at desired levels, Evans County School System (ECSS) students showed areas of improvement in several grades, contents, and in cohorts (groups of students progressing from one year and one grade-level to the next) when compared to 2023-2024 data.
On the ELA EOG, the percentage of ECSS students reading on grade level increased in grades 5 and 7. Those same cohorts of students (those currently in grades 5 and 7) showed improvement in grade-level reading as they transitioned from one grade to the next. Additionally, grades 3, 5, and 7 showed an increased percentage of students at the developing and above level of achievement. The percentage of students achieving typical growth in grades 4, 5, 6, and 7 increased in 2025.
On the math EOG, grades 3, 5, 6, and 7 showed an increased percentage of ECSS students achieving at the developing and above levels of achievement. Cohorts of students in grades 4 and 7 showed increases in groups of students at this level as they transitioned from one grade to the next. The percentage of students achieving typical growth in grades 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 increased in 2025.
On the science EOG, students in grades 5 and 8 showed an increased percentage of ECSS students scoring at the developing and above level of achievement. On the US History EOC, 67.7% of students scored at the developing and above level, the highest percentage for any content area assessed in the district in the 24-25 GMAS administration. Due to the design of the EOG and EOC science and social studies assessments, GaDOE is not able to provide any SGP data for these content areas. Also, please note that due to assessment and program design, no EOC was administered in the ELA content in 24-25 in ECSS. In the 25-26 school year, students in grades 3-8 and designated high school ELA courses will be assessed for the first time on Georgia’s new ELA standards and using the new ELA EOG and EOC assessments.
It is important to note that this initial release of data doesn’t include any official accountability scores. That information will be available when GaDOE releases College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) data. As the ECSS continues to analyze the results and plan for the future, the Spring 2025 EOG and EOC scores provide a source of data to guide continuous improvement efforts throughout the district.
