Important Information

February 10, 2023: Evans County Charter School System (ECCSS) is among the 115 rural school districts in the state of Georgia that was recently awarded Rural Education and Innovation (REI) grants. ECCSS will receive $100,000 for technology.

Mr. Ron Myers, Director of Technology for ECCSS, completed and submitted the REI technology grant application in late December, and Dr. Bronwyn Ragan-Martin, Deputy Superintendent of the Office of REI, notified ECCSS of its grant approval later in January.

Part of the grant application process included Mr. Myers submitting a plan for how awarded funds would be used to better serve students’ and teachers’ needs in accessing and using technology in a rural area like Evans County. ECCSS plans to use these funds include ensuring all students have an up-to-date device, improving students’ and teachers’ access to technology, and adding ViewSonic Classroom Interactive Panels with Voice Amplification to classrooms.

According to Mr. Myers, “I am very excited that  we were awarded the $100,000 grant. To receive external funds is always a plus and benefit to our system and community. This allows progress in continually moving our system forward and providing the needed technology for students and staff. This grant also directly aligns with our Technology Plan and supports our District Strategic Plan goals.”
