The 7 Mindsets focus for this week is "Explore your interests."
What do you love to do and would do for free? Whatever your interests are, explore them further. Read a different genre, listen to a different type of music, play more of that sport!

Mrs. Kennedy’s students enjoyed popcorn and a juice for meeting their Math MAP goal . They enjoyed an Ice Cream Sundae Bar for meeting their Reading MAP goal. #CES #ExcellenceLeadershipFamily

There is so much to share about today's Meet the Pathways event! Check out these additional pictures.
#TheDEN #careerready #leadership

What an amazing event! The first Meet the Pathways event was held today at Claxton Middle School. Pathway teachers from The DEN set up stations led by student ambassadors. These stations allowed the younger students to hear about the work in the pathway as well as to experience the pathway through hands-on activities. These activities involved decorating cookies, sampling different versions of sauteed chicken, filming, playing giant Jenga using a fire extraction tool, handling and identifying basic hand tools, racing on a calculator, applying chest compressions, and building teamwork. Thank you to the teachers, student leaders, and participants who made today a huge success!

Attention Claxton Middle School Gentleman! If you would like to represent your school as Mr. Claxton Middle School this year and are interested in more information, please email bwest@evanscountyschools.org.

Mrs. Shepherd's 3rd grade students created a movie from the play, Stone Soup! Students collaborated, communicated, and took on individual roles to record each scene.
Students all learned how to use iMovie, a green screen, and an internet image to give each scene a background that represented their setting. #CES #ExcellenceLeadershipFamily

Students at Claxton Middle School had the opportunity to explore the pathways that are offered at Claxton High School. CHS students from the CTAE classes at The Den, along with their teachers, set up stations in the CMS gym and allowed CMS students to ask questions and learn about the pathways that will be offered to them when they enter high school. We hope this opportunity will help our students choose a career path and become successful and productive members in society. #TheDEN #workforceready #4Cs

Today Canoochee EMC’s Joe Sikes encouraged all CHS juniors to enter this year’s Washington Youth Tour Competition.
The first round of competition requires an essay entry, and round two involves an in-person interview. Winners of the contest receive a week-long, all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC, a cash award, and more.
The deadline for essays is February 1. Information about this contest, including essay topics, is in the 2024 Cohort Google Classroom.
CHS and The DEN are grateful for Canoochee EMC’s support of our school and students!

Congratulations to Juan Patricio Ramos! Juan became the third student in the pre-apprenticeship program with Ogeechee Technical College, Claxton Poultry, and The DEN. Students in this program complete college coursework in Manufacturing Engineering Technology (or other high-demand fields) while earning on-the-job experience. Pre-apprentices work under an assigned mentor, meet monthly with members of Human Resources to acquire additional job and soft skills, and are considered for regular raises based on their performance in the program. The DEN is appreciative of this partnership that benefits our students and community.

Patrick Burkhalter from Canoochee EMC visited The DEN at Claxton High School this morning and presented Entrepreneurship teacher, Lee Ann Lane, a check for $5000. This donation was made by the Canoochee EMC Foundation and is to be used for this year's FLEX program. We are thankful for the foundation's investment in this innovative program that helps young people become small business owners within their own community.

Two Youth Apprenticeship students and one Work-Based Learning student shared their experiences in these programs, and Ms. Robinson provided program updates. Attendees look forward to the next meeting in April. Individuals interested in helping our students earn work experience are invited to attend.
