Miss Hoffman’s 6th graders are on a mission! To gear up for the GA Milestones, students turned into "Zoo Savers" this week. They worked through a zoo-themed escape room, solving ELA standard challenges to complete a high-stakes letter and keep the gates open! ✍️🏨

🏆 Simply Superior: The Tiger Band Takes Wild Adventures! 🎶
We are incredibly proud to announce that the Claxton High School Concert Band earned a Superior rating at the Wild Adventures Band Fest.
A Superior rating is awarded to ensembles that demonstrate outstanding technical proficiency, beautiful tone quality, and exceptional musicality. This achievement is a direct result of the hard work and discipline our students bring to the band room every day under the leadership of Mr. Maruri.
Beyond the performance, our musicians participated in a mini-clinical with the festival judges. This session allowed the band to work directly with professional clinicians, receiving high-level feedback to help them continue their growth as an elite ensemble.

⚖️📏 Measuring Up in Math! 📏⚖️
Big learning happened in Mrs. Kelly's kindergarten classroom! We kicked off our first measurement lesson by exploring weight—comparing objects to see which were heavy and which were light.
There was so much curiosity, thoughtful discussion, and hands‑on fun as students began building their understanding of measurement. Learning through exploration makes it even more exciting! 🧠✨

🎭🐻 Our 2nd graders had an amazing day on their field trip to Georgia Southern University! Students enjoyed watching a live performance of Winnie the Pooh and loved experiencing the arts outside the classroom.
After the show, everyone enjoyed lunch together and had a blast playing and relaxing at Mill Creek Park 🌳☀️. It was a day full of smiles, fun, and special memories! 💛📚

In Mr. Transue’s Advanced Algebra class, students are learning that polynomials are the building blocks of the world around us—including our favorite theme park rides!
To successfully complete their roller coaster project, students had to use graphing technology to create a "blueprint" of their track. They analyzed the peaks, valleys, and intercepts of their functions to predict how a marble would travel. The true test came during construction, where they had to account for real-world variables like friction and gravity.
Whether they were tackling the Vertical Loop or ensuring a marble survived a high-speed valley, these Tigers proved that they have the grit and the mathematical mind to solve complex engineering problems.

On Friday, April 17, our CMS 8th graders stepped into the Teen Maze, an interactive, life-sized "game of life" designed to show students the real-world consequences of the decisions they make.
What is Teen Maze?
It’s not just a path through a gym—it's an experiential learning event where students navigate various stations representing life choices. From education and career paths to the legal and health consequences of risky behaviors, the "Maze" provides a safe environment for students to see how one decision can change their entire future.
Our students walked away with a better understanding of:
The Power of Choice: Seeing firsthand how positive decisions lead to success.
Real-World Consequences: Navigating the "legal" and "medical" hurdles of risky actions.
Future Planning: Exploring graduation and career options.

Our day was extra special because Mrs. Busbie’s class invited them in to meet some of the chicks she has been hatching and caring for 🐥💛. The students were SO excited to see them up close and even got the chance to gently hold them! 🤍✨ There were lots of smiles 😄, a few squeals 😆, and so many great connections to what they’ve been learning all week 🧠🔗.
