Our High School High Tech students visited Great Dane in Statesboro on 11/13/25. This valuable tour gave students a comprehensive look at the company's operations, showing them the scale and teamwork involved in manufacturing.

They learned about pathways to employment, competitive benefits, and the skills needed to succeed in a major facility. Great job connecting with the world of work! 🖤💛

If you need help putting up your Christmas tree, these guys can help you out! They worked with CCA Board Chair Rosalind Ivey to assemble, fluff, and decorate the tree at CHS and The DEN. This year's tree radiates school spirit, promotes literacy, and showcases course offerings. Ivey donated ribbon and black and gold ball ornaments to serve as the basis of the tree, and art teacher Robin Smith and her students created nearly ninety mini canvases to personalize this new addition to our school. What's inside a pumpkin? Ask Mrs. Minis' Biology class! 🧠

Students spent time exploring the molecular building blocks of life by performing a hands-on lab to extract DNA from pumpkins. This simple yet powerful experiment helped them visualize DNA strands and reinforce their genetics lessons.

After their lab, they enjoyed some fun carving time. Excellent job combining learning and celebration! 🖤🧡

🎃 Halloween Fun at Trunk or Treat! 🎃

We’re a little late sharing, but our Pre-K students had an amazing time participating in this year’s Trunk or Treat event! A big thank you to all the local businesses, organizations, churches, the fire and police departments, and our city officials who helped make the day such a success.

Because of your support, our little ones enjoyed lots of treats, smiles, and unforgettable fun. We truly appreciate everyone who made this event so special! 🧡👻🍬

What would happen if a meteor knocked the moon closer to the earth? Life As We Knew It, the November and December book club selection, centers around this very thing, and explores the resulting ripples that change life for the entire planet. Any high school student interested in reading this book should swing by Holly Durrence's office for a copy. CHS Honors Our Heroes! A Day of Deep Gratitude 🌟
Claxton High School and the history department hosted a deeply meaningful Veterans Day program Tuesday, November 1, 2025, to honor those who have served. 🏫 The day began bright and early with a special breakfast 🥓☕ for the veterans, a small token of our immense appreciation.

Our guest speaker, 2nd Lt. Jordan Hendrix (Platoon Leader, 414 Signal Company, 3rd Infantry Division, Ft. Stewart), delivered a powerful message on selfless service 🛡️, emphasizing that true dedication happens not just on the battlefield but also in the quiet moments of daily life. He encouraged our students to live with purpose and "do what is right, even when no one is watching." 💪

The program featured heartfelt tributes from our talented students (Mila Sapp, Emmie Stanfield, Victor Fuentes, Kaydence Snellgrove, Jordan Brown) and inspiring performances by the CHS Band 🎶🎺 and Chorus 🎤. The ceremony culminated with the band’s moving Salute to Armed Forces, where we proudly recognized the veterans from each service branch present with a big round of applause! 👏

Thank you to all our veterans for your service and sacrifice! 🙏 Your commitment inspires us all. 💖

🌟 Our 2nd grade students had a great (and chilly!) day exploring the GSU Planetarium, learning all about patterns in the sky, and enjoying some fun at Mill Creek Park afterward! 💫❄️

🗳️ Election Day Fun in Ms. Amari and Ms. Nicky’s Class! 🗳️

Our students learned all about Election Day and the importance of voting. To make it exciting, they held a class campaign featuring two sweet candidates — Oreos and Animal Crackers! Students were given fun voter ID cards, waited in line to check in, voted privately, and then cast their ballots. After voting, each student proudly received an “I Voted” sticker. After all the ballots were counted, Oreos was announced as the winning candidate! 🍪🎉 This engaging hands-on activity helped students experience the voting process firsthand while learning the value of having their voices heard.

What an honor it was to serve our local veterans a full breakfast! Culinary Arts students and instructor Cindy Hart prepared grits and breakfast casseroles, homemade sausage biscuits, honeybun bites, fresh patriotic fruit, pigs in a blanket, and yogurt parfaits. This meal was a small token of our school's appreciation for the many sacrifices made by our country's service men and women. #TheDEN #veteransday
