Students learned about light and how shadows form. In pairs, they explored the classroom with a flashlight to determine if a shadow was created, by blocking the light, or not, due to transparency. The class discussed their findings and collaborated to make a chart displaying their findings. #CES #ExcellenceLeadershipFamily

Students in Mrs. Myers’s 6th grade science classes enjoyed a planetarium experience. They enjoyed viewing Destination Solar System provided by Operation Teach. This technology brings the field trip to the students and gives them a chance to see the solar system in a fun and engaging way. #cmstigers

Friday, November 11, just before lunch, CHS students and staff lined the hallway to cheer on our football team, band, and cheerleaders as they left for their trip to Lamar County for the first round of playoffs. #GoTigers #RoundOne #TigersSupportingTigers #CHSSpirit

CHS teacher and coach, Mrs. Hana Oglesby-Hendrix, served as the featured speaker for CHS’s Veterans Day Program this morning. She delivered an inspiring message about the journey military families experience, the courage it takes to face challenges, and how military families, especially the kids in military families, are like dandelions and are committed to thriving wherever they land. ❤️🤍💙 What Mrs. Oglesby-Hendrix didn’t know, is that Dr. Mizell and CHS had arranged for a special homecoming reunion at the end of her speech! ❤️🤍💙 Please join CHS, ECCSS, and our community in welcoming home U.S. Army Sergeant Jordan Hendrix, Sr! We appreciate your service and your family’s sacrifices, and we are SO GRATEFUL for the moment you shared with our CHS students, staff, visiting Veterans, and other community members this morning!

Mrs. Phillips and her 2nd-grade students read and studied a mentor text called, 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙒𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙣 𝙊𝙡𝙙 𝙇𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙒𝙝𝙤 𝙎𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙙 𝙖 𝘽𝙖𝙩! The CMS boys' tennis team ended their season this week after going into the playoffs. Coach Floyd and Coach Sapp are very proud of their boys and their hard work over the season! The team is excited to cheer on the CMS girls tennis team as they go into the second round of playoffs! #cmstigers

The 7 Mindsets focus for this week is "Growing Through Life." Students discussed that we all have obstacles to overcome to be successful. As we encounter obstacles in our life, those obstacles shouldn't keep us from obtaining our dreams, but rather, force us to find another path to achieve them. Adversity will happen, but it's what we do with our adversity that makes us who we are. #7mindsets
