6th grade students in Mrs. Myers's science class are embarking on an exciting exploration of minerals. These young geologists are immersing themselves in studying minerals and discovering their formation, properties, and types. Through hands-on activities, group discussions, and learning games, the students are gaining a deeper understanding of Earth's hidden gems. These 6th graders are developing scientific knowledge and fostering an appreciation for the intricate beauty of our planet's geological wonders.

On Thursday, May 11, CHS dedicated some lemon trees planted in memory of Mrs. Julie Sikes. Mrs. Sikes' family members were special guests for the program which included words from Dr. Paul Mizell, Mrs. Holly Durrence, Dr. Marty Waters, and Karon Taylor (CHS Alumni- Class of 2021), as well as a song performed by CHS Chorus, under the direction of Mr. Maurice Burney. Ms. Tammy Hall and Dr. Mizell unveiled the temporary sign for the orchard. CHS appreciates the students, staff, and family of Ms. Sikes for joining us to dedicate this orchard in loving memory of Ms. Sikes.

8th grade student, Breanna Stephens, shared some of her artistic knowledge with Mrs. Nicoli's 5th period art class. Breanna, an Evans County 4-H member, adapted her DPA project on art backgrounds into a digital presentation that she used to teach the mini lesson to Mrs. Nicoli's class. The students learned that there are different backgrounds used in comics, and then they were able to practice drawing their own comic. Great job, Breanna!
