Mrs. Liberatore’s class practiced critical thinking, collaboration, and communication while making inferences about social media. Students were challenged with reviewing a social media profile and asked to make inferences. Students worked collaboratively to make the inferences by thinking out loud through the different clues. #4Cs #21stCenturySkills

February is CTAE Month in Georgia! One purpose of this yearly celebration is to raise awareness of the role that CTAE has in preparing learners for college, career, and life success. ECCSS appreciates our CTAE faculty and staff and our CTAE students!

Our ECCSS nurses are hosting a Biggest Loser challenge for staff at each school. Participants are in a 3-month competition to see who can lose the most weight and get healthier. This week, Biggest Loser participants were treated to a healthy yogurt breakfast bar for a Valentine's day treat.

7th grade students in Mrs. Smith's career classes are learning that making a first impression is very important! They are practicing how to properly greet and introduce themselves to another person. This will be very important when they are old enough to interview for their first job! They even got Officer McKinnon and CHS senior, Daniel Perez to practice with them. We want our students to be successful in their community, and making a good first impression goes a long way! #4Cs

CMS Baseball coaches and players are gearing up for another season! Join us Tuesday, at 4pm, at home against South Tattnall Middle School for the first game of the season. Hope to catch you there!

Joshua Gillespie, a senior at Claxton High School, was recognized as Claxton High School's 2023 STAR Student at the 2023 STAR Luncheon on Thursday, February 16, held at the Veterans Community Center and sponsored by the Claxton- Evans County Chamber of Commerce. Joshua chose Ms. Meagan Hedden as his STAR Teacher. Ms. Hedden was recognized at the luncheon also. Teachers and staff at Claxton Middle School used their work day wisely by collaboratively planning communication and instructional methods to make Claxton Middle School an even more effective place for students to learn. We believe that there is always more room for improvement, so we hold ourselves to the same standard as we hold our students. We want to always focus on a growth mindset!

7th grade students in Mrs. Brown's classes have finished dissecting their owl pellets (owl vomit), and now they are reconstructing the skeleton of what they found. The learning process required the students to remove all the bones from the pellet, clean them, and determine what rodent or bird it was by reconstructing the skeleton. The students will write a scientific report of their findings. #4Cs #ProjectBasedLearning

CHS and Pinewood students participated in Rotary Speech competition yesterday! All participants did a great job! Huge congrats to CHS's Estrella Salas-Mendoza for her first-place finish and to Tiya Patel for her third-place finish! Estrella's speech focused on this year's theme: Imagine Rotary. Tiya's speech focused on the four-way test. Please help ECCSS congratulate Estrella and Tiya!
