There is more to making a stool or birdhouse than you may think! Precise measurements, straight cuts, square corners, and just right screw holes all make a difference in the appearance and function.
Construction students are pursuing one of these projects under the guidance of their instructor, Mr. Hall. When finished, the students will use the rubric to self-assess their work. Student assessments will then be compared to Mr. Hall's evaluation of their work.

Students in Mrs. Brown's 7th grade science classes observed interactions of predator and prey relationships by examining owl pellets. They saw feathers, fur, and bones, and collaboratively classified their findings. #4Cs #ProjectBasedLearning

Our 7 Mindsets focus this week is on gratitude. In memory of Mrs. Julie Sikes, we are asking our students to continue her legacy of leaving sweet notes for people. She always saw the good in people and was an encourager to all who knew her. CMS and CHS students will be writing thank you notes to people that matter to them in an effort to the see the good in other people and continue sharing Mrs. Sikes's attitude of gratitude.

Wear your house colors tomorrow!

Mrs. Shaul’s 3rd graders have been thinking critically about fractions this week! After making fraction strips, they had some great observations about the sizes of each unit fraction. Then, students collaborated to place fractions on a number line. They had very meaningful conversations with each other as they attempted to place the fractions in the correct order. #CES #ExcellenceLeadershipFamily

Our ECCSS finalists for the Community MLK Competition have been practicing across the district, and tomorrow is their big day for delivering their speeches to the community! They've worked hard to share a message about the people, events, and ideas that have influenced positive changes for equality, and we are excited for them to share their messages tomorrow!
Check out some of their practice rounds in action below! Some grade-bands performed in front of our Social Studies Professional Learning Team (PLT) and received feedback. Some grade-bands performed in front of other classes and received feedback. Other grade-bands performed on the intercom or a microphone and received feedback!
We're proud of our students, and we're thankful for our staff for creating and hosting these opportunities!
We can't wait to see our student SHINE tomorrow during this wonderful annual celebration! You can join the community and see and hear our Tigers in action at the CMS gym, from 10 AM-12:00 PM, tomorrow!

6th grade students in Ms. Adams's career classes are learning which careers might be a good fit for them. Using the YouScience curriculum, students simply participate in a series of brain games to discover their aptitudes and interests, and the program matches them to careers that are best suited for them. By exposing our students to this curriculum at a young age, it allows them to zero in on possible career choices and choose classes that will best prepare them for these careers.
