CES 12 Days of Christmas
Tinsel Day - Sparkle or Glitter

CMS celebrated Two Turtle Doves (Twin) Day on Friday!

The Claxton Middle School Baseball Academy was a six week instructional camp for students enrolled in the Evans County Charter School system. The camp started on October 17th with 24 players ranging from the 4th to the 8th grade, which focused on fielding, hitting, base running, throwing, and catching. These young players showed their love for the sport by coming to practice when it was as low as 40 degrees and high 85 degrees outside! It also was a great opportunity for the coaches to work with the future Tigers and we are looking forward to working with even more student-athletes during the summer session. Go Tigers!

CMS STEM classes enjoyed decorating one of the school hallways with a nature theme for the Wildlife Essay Contest! The class incorporated the novel “Hatchet” with their essays to learn more about wildlife and the conservation of habitats. Students have learned about rabbit species in our state, turkey populations, CWD in deer and much more! They finished off the week-long unit with archery tag in the gym, made possible by Georgia Southern University Shooting Sports Education Center. #4Cs #projectbasedlearning #BeABigShot

Chemistry students mixed and mingled in an iconic compound speed dating activity. They wrote formulas for compounds, identified ratios of cations and anions, and named them.

A Sneak Peek of the Tiger Gingerbread House! To see the finished product, come to the Parade of Lights on Saturday at 6 PM. The parade will begin at the Evans County Public Library. All units will travel east on Highway 280, turn right on Highway 301, and conclude at the intersection of Liberty and Newton Streets (formerly known as the Hodges Shopping Center).

8th Grade students in Mrs. Stephens's science classes created their products for the Periodic Party next Tuesday! Students used collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity to plan and create recipes to demonstrate their learning about chemical bonding and the periodic table. Students were also able to redesign or improve their recipes, if they were unsuccessful the first day, as part of the engineering design process. #4Cs #projectbasedlearning

CMS would like to congratulate the 8th grade students who were chosen by their teachers as student of the week during the month of November. Great job, Gael Hernandez and Heather Horton! Keep up the good work!

6th graders in Mrs. Ikner's Language Arts classes are using SOLE (Self-Organized Learning Environment) research/group collaboration to learn new information. Students are given a big question which they must research and discuss with a peer-learning group. Once the research is completed, the information is organized into a presentation that they must present to the entire class. #4Cs #projectbasedlearning
