Another opportunity for our students! Jan Moore and Hal McCool talked to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are interested in a career as an electrician. ACE Electric is offering a program in which students can work as summer apprentices (and possibly Work-Based Learning students), enroll in dual enrollment courses in electrical or manufacturing engineering technology, and become a journeyman electrician by the age of twenty or twenty one. CHS and Pinewood students participated in Rotary Speech competition yesterday! All participants did a great job! Huge congrats to CHS's Estrella Salas-Mendoza for her first-place finish and to Tiya Patel for her third-place finish! Estrella's speech focused on this year's theme: Imagine Rotary. Tiya's speech focused on the four-way test. Please help ECCSS congratulate Estrella and Tiya!

Hello, CES Parents! 🐾 We are kicking off our Coca-Cola fundraiser today!! We have sent order forms home with each student, and the fundraiser will run until Thursday, March 9th. The class that sells the most cases will win a special pizza party! CMS students in Mrs. Nicoli's art classes are studying people who are important to Black History. Students are working collaboratively to research a person, create a piece of art to represent their findings, and present their findings to their classmates. #4Cs #ProjectBasedLearning

8th grade students in Mrs. Stephens's science classes are learning about solubility. Students spent today rotating through learning stations with different described scenarios to determine how many grams of a particular solvent would dissolve at certain temperatures. #4Cs #ProjectBasedLearning

Welcome home, Hannah Boggs (Class of 2022)! CHS is proud of you! Tanya Chisholm, Human Resource Director at the Georgia Ports Authority, and Hannah Boggs visited with all seniors today to tell them about the YES Training Program. This program is a competitive program that is open to all 2023 high school graduates who are 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license. The program will choose thirty individuals to train throughout the coming school year, pay these individuals, and strategically place them in positions throughout the ports. Boggs, a recent graduate of Claxton High School, is a YES Training Program participant and works as a jockey driver at the ports. Upon completion of the program this summer, she will receive a pay raise. Boggs encouraged students who want to go directly to work after graduation to apply for this opportunity. Interested seniors should see Ms. Channa Robinson. #TheDEN

We are looking for community members to come read a book of your choice to a class during Read Across America week. (Feb. 27 - March 3) The times are set every half hour. If you can spare 30 minutes or less to help us out, it would be greatly appreciated. Our students absolutely love this week, each year. What a wonderful gathering! Twenty-six members of the Bryan-Evans Retired Educators Association met today at Claxton High School. CEO Holly Durrence served as presenter and tour guide. Following the meeting and tour, the group enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Culinary Arts. The Den would like to thank the retired teachers for making our day extra special! Not only did these individuals encourage us through their kind words and many smiles, they donated $451 to the Evans Region College and Career Academy. #TheDEN

Today was "Pitch Day" for our three remaining contestants in this year's FLEX Competition! Business and community members listened to the business pitches and provided participants feedback. This feedback will be used by the small business owners as they prepare for the final round in late March. Thank you to Jerry Benitez (Picho's), Chris Culbreth (Claxton Poultry), Suzanne Hallman (Georgia Southern University), and LeeAnne Robinson (Ogeechee Technical College) for sharing their time and expertise with our students! #TheDEN #FLEX

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could actually visit every place that we learn about? 6th grade students in Mr. Carruth's social studies classes have been learning about WWII and the Holocaust. With the help of the Oculus virtual reality headsets, the students were able to get a better look at what they are learning. Today, they were able to take a virtual tour of Anne Franke's hiding place and tour a Holocaust museum cemetery, as if they were actually there! While waiting their turn at the Oculus, students wrote a letter to a WWII soldier. #ActiveLearning

Mrs. Hollingsworth’s class made Valentines for each resident at NorthSpring Senior Living. They were so happy to write to their person with Valentine’s Day-themed puns! Zoom in to read some! ❤️

Culinary Arts didn't forget Valentine's Day! They poured their heart into making truffles, chocolate covered pretzels, beautifully decorated cupcakes, and chocolate covered strawberries. We know our customers will LOVE them! #TheDEN
