Culinary Arts involves more than just cooking! This career pathway requires hospitality, and that is exactly what Olivia Mejia offered her ninth grade guests.
Mejia, a junior who has proven herself in many kitchens, provided High School Transitions students a tour of the CCA industrial grade kitchen, shared her experiences in the Culinary Arts Program, and encouraged fellow students to consider this pathway.
Currently, Mejia works at both North Springs and The Griffin House where she assists in meal preparation. Mejia looks forward to pursuing a career as a professional chef.

Good luck to all of our CMS (C-team) and CHS (Varsity and Junior Varsity) teams this week!
Go Tigers!

The Evans Region College and Career Academy celebrated three "firsts" last week. Brian Croft, the county and high school firefighting instructor, presented Evans County Firefighter patches to Ethan Sikes, Austin McDilda, and Landon Lambright. These young men passed the necessary exams to earn this distinction.
Sikes, a recent graduate of CHS, has filed the required paperwork to begin work as a volunteer firefighter in our community. McDilda and Lambright are awaiting their eighteenth birthdays and the completion of some final training.
Congratulations to these young men!

Check out Ms. Gordon's Environmental Science students!
These CHS students shared presentations last week. Students helped their peers prepare to present by giving one another feedback that aligned with their project checklists. Students also practiced their first rounds of peer review following presentations!
