Students in Freshman Seminar are exploring the Teaching As A Profession pathway this week. Part of their exploration involves working with a partner to create a lesson plan for a sixth grade standard of choice. Students are drafting the lesson on the district’s planning template, locating and/or creating handouts and other materials, and teaching their lesson to peers. What a powerful way to explore this career and, at the same time, use the 4 Cs—communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity!

Greetings Tiger Nation! Homecoming is one of the most anticipated events in high school. It brings back memories of past traditions and allows students the opportunity to display school spirit. Unfortunately, with the influence of collegiate practices, some bad habits have developed over the years. ECSS does not sanction or condone Junior-Senior wars or any other activity that promotes or encourages the damage to or the destruction of property. We highly discourage this type of behavior and advise property owners to press charges in the event there is damage or destruction. Here are the district/school sanctioned events: Spirit Week - “There’s No Place Like HOMEcoming” Themes Monday - Follow the Yellow Brick Road - Dress Up as Future Career Tuesday - “Twister” Throwback Tuesday - Dress Up Any Decade 70s, 80s, 90s, etc. Wednesday - Wicked Witch Wednesday - Dress Up As Favorite Character Thursday - Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Grade Level Colors Friday - Tigers, Oh My - Black and Gold Tiger Spirit Powder Puff Game - Thursday, September 16 - 6:00 @ Tiger Town Pep Rally Parade - Friday, September 17 - 4:00 p.m. Homecoming Court during half time Tigers vs. Eagles - Pecan Grove 7:30 kickoff In addition, the Evans County School System is implementing a clear bag policy at the Pecan Grove for football games to enhance safety and security. The policy will limit the size and types of bags allowed at the stadium during games. All bags are subject to inspection prior to entry. Guests attempting to enter the stadium with non-conforming bags will be asked to return the items to their vehicles. Bags allowed are: Clear plastic Tote Bags (no larger than 12" x 6" x 12”) One-Gallon Plastic Freezer Bags Small Clutch Purses (smaller than 4.5" x 6.5") Diaper bags (subject to search) if a baby is with the party Bags not allowed are: Backpacks Purses Binocular or Camera Cases Fanny Packs Cinch Bags Printed Pattern or Oversize Tote Bags Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items and credentialed news media/photographer equipment bags. These individuals should check in at the pass gate table upon arrival. In addition, members of student groups involved with the event are permitted to enter with equipment bags when entering with their team or group, in uniform, and with the director or coach. We appreciate everyone's understanding and compliance as we seek to create safe and wholesome activities for our students and community. Martin G. Waters, Ed.D. Superintendent
