The Den hosted the December Claxton-Evans Chamber Board Meeting. Culinary Arts catered the delicious meal which one of the board members described as "restaurant-quality". Thank you to Mrs. Hart and her students for an impressive meal!

Alumnus Darby Hodges visited High School Transitions students today. Hodges discussed his career in the Coast Guard, which led to his current career as captain of a cargo ship. Students were intrigued by Hodges' work and asked some terrific questions.

On Thursday, December 9, CHS students participated in a field trip to the Savannah Fire Department training facilities. The field trip was sponsored by High School High Tech. While on the trip, students learned about the application and certification process to be employed by the Savannah Fire Department. Representatives of the department discussed physical requirements, job skills, and the impact social media can have on employment. Students were also shown how to tie some of the important knots used by the department, complete a team work activity to get water from a hydrant to a fire, as well as a short CPR demonstration/practice session.




CMS students were treated to a Winter Showcase Concert on Monday, December 13th, at 9 a.m. The CMS/CHS bands, drama class, and chorus classes performed holiday selections. They all did an outstanding job!




The CMS baseball management team is holding a raffle for a pellet grill. Drawing will be held Wednesday, December 15th. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket for $10, please call CMS at 739-3646.
Students in Mrs. Whitfield's class are tracking their learning progress on Happy Numbers. When students complete a learning path, they receive a $5 gift card to McDonalds! Congratulations!


Lady Tiger Basketball Update

Disney Codeillusion Club is now open for registration to 4th-8th grade students!!! Do you want to master coding fundamentals? Disney Codeillusion’s course is designed and developed by some of the most iconic names in game development and comics. The former programmer, designer, and director of Sonic the Hedgehog at Sega, as well as CTO at Square Enix for games like Final Fantasy, Yoshihisa Hashimoto, has contributed his expertise for Disney Codeillusion’s coding program. In addition, Joe Caramagna, writer of Marvel and Disney comics such as DuckTales, Frozen, and Big Hero 6, has also played a vital role in the development of Disney Codeillusion.
Disney Codeillusoin Club will be held after school hours. Students will participate from home at their own pace. Mrs. Keyfauver will be meeting with students through Google Classroom each week via a Google Meet link. There they will find activities to complete. Students will need internet access and a laptop or desktop. They are allowed to take their school issued Chromebook home.

What do I need? Internet access and a laptop or desktop
How does it work? Students will work on assigned tasks at their own pace from home. They will receive their tasks in Google Classroom and meet with Mrs. Keyfauver once a week via a Google Meet link in Google Classroom.
When will we start? Mrs. Keyfauver will share information about joining Google Classroom with students through their school email account. A welcome message with information about joining will also be sent to parents through KiNVO. If you have opted out of KiNVO messages, then please contact Mrs. Keyfauver to receive the information. The first Google Meet will be over Christmas break, so that students are able to work on the first tasks at their own pace over the holiday.

It's Open Enrollment for Work-Based Learning! Representatives from North Springs and The Griffin House, Claxton Poultry, and Tippins Bank spoke to juniors and seniors about job and career opportunities within their organizations. Students actively listened and interacted with the guests. Door prizes were awarded to several students via a drawing held today.

Mrs. Kirk and Mrs. Hagan’s class concluded their unit on 2D and 3D shapes by making gingerbread houses. Yum!
