The CHS Counseling Department is excited to roll out a ✨fresh new approach✨ to advisement this year! Instead of hosting all cohort groups at once, we’ll hold one advisement session per day (Monday–Thursday) during Tiger Pride time (9:15–10:00).
This change means students will receive more focused and personalized support. 🙌💡
📅 Advisement kicks off on Wednesday, September 15, 2025 and will begin with 11th grade!
👉 To find out your student’s advisement day, please ask them which Tiger Pride group they are in.

Parents and stakeholders are invited to join us for our Annual Title I Meeting on Thursday, September 18th at 5:30 PM.
We look forward to seeing you there!

In Ms. Hendrix and Mr. Allen’s Pre-K class, our little shape detectives had so much fun learning all about 2D shapes! We searched for circles ⚪, squares 🟦, triangles 🔺, and rectangles ▭ all around us, then created our very own colorful shape collages 🎨✂️.
The highlight of the week was making silly shape “pizzas” 🍕—with triangles for cheese, circles for pepperoni, and more!
Our Pre-K friends are showing us that learning can be both creative ✨ and fun 🎉!

CMS teachers, led by our dedicated leadership team, came together for meaningful discussions about classroom instruction. 🐯🖤💛 These conversations strengthen our teaching practices and ensure we’re providing the best learning experiences for our students.
We are proud of our teachers’ commitment to continuous growth and teamwork! 💪🐯🖤💛

Mrs. Herrington & Ms. Courtney’s class explored shapes this week! The students learned all about the different attributes of shapes and then put their knowledge to work. ✨
Using their cutting skills, they created a colorful class shape collage for everyone to enjoy. What a fun way to combine math and creativity—because Every Play Matters! 💛📐

Students explored the rich culture and traditions of these empires, their technological advances, and the events that led to their conquest. ⚔️🔍 As their learning progressed, they also debated the pros and cons of the Columbian Exchange, examining its lasting effects on Native populations and how it continues to shape our modern-day culture. 🌽🍫
🐯We are proud of our Tigers for their curiosity, hard work, and passion for history! 🖤💛

Come on out and support our Tigers this week as they hit the fields, track, and diamond! Let’s show our Tiger Pride! 🐾

A big thank you to 6th grader Desmond Mikell and 8th grader Tamara McLeod for leading the CMS morning announcements this past week! Both did an excellent job representing our school with confidence and pride. 👏✨

Today we would like to recognize Beau Blizzard for showing kindness and leadership in the hallway. When Beau noticed a new student who seemed unsure of where to go, he immediately stopped to help and personally guided the student to the correct location.
In doing so, Beau truly demonstrated ROAR:
Respect by treating the new student kindly
Owning his actions by choosing to step up and assist
Acting safely by ensuring the student got where he needed to go
Ready to engage by being attentive and proactive in the moment
Thank you, Beau, for being a positive role model and helping us build a welcoming school community! 👏🐾

📚 Learning History Through Music! 🎶✨
Mr. Lewis’s U.S. History classes at Claxton High School have been diving into the Early Republic, including the War of 1812—the time when the Star-Spangled Banner was written! ⭐
As a fun and creative project, students worked in small groups to write their own song. 🎤🎶 They then performed their songs for the class!💡👏
We are so proud of our Tigers 🐯 repping the Black & Gold 🖤💛 with pride and talent!

Pre-K enjoyed learning all about friendship and especially the ways to be a good friend. 👫💬 Students sent in their favorite snacks 🍫🍓, teachers guided discussions while preparing the treats 👩🏫🥣, and everyone enjoyed sharing with friends! 🥳✨
This was a sweet way to practice making new friends, sharing, and being kind — all while enjoying a delicious treat! 😋💕
