"The Library Dragon" by Carmen Agra Deedy was just one of the books the students in Mrs. Eason's first grade class got to hear read by Melinda Hodges. Mrs. Melinda came prepared with a bag full of books and even puppets. Several students were willing to miss recess if they could stay and hear Mrs. Melinda read more book! Thank you for sharing your love of reading, books and storytelling with our students.

THANK YOU to Allie Mock, 7th grader and avid reader for coming to share your love of books and reading with our elementary students. Allie read "If I Ran Your School" by the Cat in the Hat and "There's a Wocket in my Pocket!" by Dr. Seuss. Her book choices were great and needless to say, the students LOVED IT!

Mr. Bradley led 6th grade students through an analysis of an argument about wooden and metal baseball bats. Students then selected their own topics and used argument checklist organizers to brainstorm, research, and draft arguments. In the next lesson, students practiced applying their argument skills to save a fictional dog! Ms. Harrison led 7th grade students through research and analysis with the pros and cons of daylight saving time. Students then selected their own topics, and Ms. Harrison conferred with students to support their research, brainstorming, and writing.

CMS 7th grade had the opportunity to use their 21st century skills today as they participated in an economic simulation on personal finance. Each student had to manage a monthly budget that was individually tailored based on how they answered six finance questions. Mrs. Betty Smith did an excellent job preparing her students for this real world experience through career discovery!
