Ms. McElveen's class recently participated in a workforce preparation seminar. This High School HighTech (HSHT) Job Readiness Training through Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) aims to empower students to enter and navigate the workforce successfully. During the training, the instructor, Stephanie Bell, reviewed many skills, attributes, and knowledge needed to enter and succeed in the workforce. Some of the topics discussed included what to wear, how to interview, completing applications and resumes, cell phone etiquette, and researching future employers. #RealLifeSkills #PlanForSuccess

At CHS, our Work-Based Learning Program provides a wide variety of opportunities. You may remember that some of our work-based student participants actually work on one of our campuses and are employed by the Evans County BOE. Senior Marissa Thornton is employed by our CHS cafeteria and enjoys the flexibility of having a job that's located just doors down from her academic classes. If you have seen the mouth-watering, nutritious lunches that our cafeterias provide, you have seen the product. Now you can see one of the smiling faces at work to produce those great meals! CMS would like to give a big shout out to its five finalists of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Writing Project.
These students will compete in the MLK Community Oratorical Competition on February 3rd, at 10 AM, at the CMS gym!

Both CMS Tiger basketball teams will be in the region playoffs next week! The girls will play in Metter on Monday, January 22nd, at 5:15 PM. The boys will host at home on Wednesday, January 23rd, at 4:00 PM. Everyone come out and support this accomplishment of both of our teams. Way to go, Tigers!
