Ag Mechanics II students are learning the basics of welding. This unit is the perfect introduction to a career field with a bright future. Between now and 2025, this line of work is expected to grow by 22%. Students with a serious interest in welding can continue their study by pursuing three welding certificates from Ogeechee Technical College before graduation from high school.

🌟What a fabulous day for Evans County!! 🌟
Yesterday at the Ogeechee Tech (OTC) iGot Campaign Kickoff, Claxton High School class of 2020 grad and Ogeechee Tech soon-to-be grad, Carlos Danu-Ramirez, shared an inspirational message about the importance motivation plays in ultimate success! Carlos is studying Air Conditioning Technology at OTC. Carlos talked about how much hands-on learning and finding a passion for a career that he enjoys have meant to him and his ultimate academic and career success! 💪🎓
Also, OTC and the Strickland Foundation shared an exciting announcement about “The Strickland Promise!”
What's The Strickland Promise? In memory of the legacy of Mr. George W. Strickland (Mr. Jack), the founder of Evans Concrete, the George W. Strickland, Jr. Foundation has signed an endowment worth $500,000 to help Evans County students attend OTC and graduate career-ready!!!
🎓🎉Any graduating senior from CHS, PCA, or a certified home school program who is also an Evans County resident will be able to attend OTC free of charge!!! There are some requirements to receive this award, and we can hardly wait to see which of our AMAZING Tigers are the first to take advantage of this AMAZING opportunity! 🎓🎉

Five young ladies will be competing for the title of Miss Claxton Middle School on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 6:30 pm in the CMS/CHS Cafetorium. Members of the CHS Concert Band visited Georgia Southern University today. Students enjoyed lunch on campus and then made their way to the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center where they participated in the LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation) Pre-Festival Clinic. The feedback received today will be used to improve the band's performance at the actual event on March 12th at Georgia Southern University.

The DEN hosted its first FLEXpo! During this event the remaining student entrepreneurs promoted their small businesses by selling their products. Handmade flowers, beautifully arranged live flowers, and delicious baked goods were among the products offered by these up and coming businesses.

Last week, Mrs. Francis and Mrs. Smith joined their classes so that students could work on their Hispanic Heritage projects. Mrs. Francis worked one-on-one with students on their writing, and Mrs. Smith provided art supplies and ideas for the required artwork. Students enjoyed each other and made headway on their entries for this assignment.
