Second graders have been asking great questions to determine the sequence of the life cycle of butterflies and frogs. Some of the students were eager to hold live tadpoles to see their tiny hind legs up close. Others preferred exploring the different stages of the life cycle of frogs using augmented reality with their iPads. Does your family have a Coat of Arms? Students in Mr. Lucas's 7th grade social studies classes had the opportunity to design their own. After researching the variety of symbols and colors used in the flags of nations studied, students created a personal Coat of Arms utilizing various colors and symbols representing personal characteristics. Each class voted on a winner, and an overall winner was chosen. Congratulations to Katherine Rosales-Rodriguez for being the overall winner. Her design will be turned into a 3D image that she can keep, thanks to Mrs. Stephens, 8th grade science teacher, who agreed to print this on the 3D printer. Congratulations to our finalists, as shown left to right in the group photo: Yamil Hernandez Campos, A'zaiah Brewton, Anahi Gutierrez, Katherine Rosales-Rodriguez (overall winner), Za'Leda Cullars, and Izabelle Gonzales.

Mr. Sapp’s STEM classes and Mrs. Brown’s Life Science classes have been learning about prosthetics! Students are learning about why people and animals need prosthetics, whether they are born without a limb or lose one due to an accident. Students researched prosthetics for animals and designed them in Tinkercad to digitally print the design on the 3D printer! The project came together after a 7 mindsets lesson on prosthetic awareness that students were passionate about. We are proud of our students for taking the initiative to create something that help another living being. #4Cs #ProjectBasedLearning #7Mindsets
