🌞💧 From Questions to Understanding: Investigating the Water Cycle! 💧🌞
Students in Mrs. Myers’s 6th grade Earth Science class took on the role of scientists as they planned and carried out their own investigations to explore how the Sun’s energy drives the water cycle! ☀️➡️🌫️➡️🌧️
Each group developed a research question—such as “How does sunlight affect the rate of evaporation?”—and formed a hypothesis based on their understanding of the water cycle. They identified variables, selected materials, and designed fair tests to collect and analyze data. With the opportunity to request additional materials (as long as they could explain how it would strengthen their experiment), students learned the importance of careful planning and scientific reasoning.
At the start of the investigation, one student asked, “Why do we need to know about the water cycle?” 🤔 But after conducting their experiment, the same student had a powerful realization:
✨ “Wow, we really do need to protect what water we have since we have so little for our use.” 💙🌎
Moments like this remind us why hands-on science matters! Another student shared, “I wanna thank you for your help today with my science project—I really enjoyed doing it with you.” 🥹🙌
This experience not only helped students model key water cycle processes like evaporation, condensation, precipitation, transpiration, infiltration, groundwater movement, and runoff but also build real-world connections to the importance of Earth's resources. Science isn’t just about learning—it’s about discovery, understanding, and inspiring action! 🚀🔬

The Evans Region College and Career Academy looks forward to hosting the Bryan-Evans Retired Educators Association each year! Culinary Arts students plan and prepare a meal for these special guests. For the group's February meeting, students served roast, new potatoes, carrots, gravy, mushroom smothered chicken, rice, green bean casserole, creamed corn, a fresh garden salad, rolls, and strawberry trifle. At the conclusion of the meeting, the association made a generous donation to the Culinary Arts program. Spreading Love, One Card at a Time ❤️
CHS freshman Citlaly Hernandez-Ramirez has a heart for serving others and leadership, always looking for ways to make a difference. Every weekend, as she travels to Metter, she passes by a rehabilitation center and notices an elderly woman sitting at the window, gazing outside. This sight made her wonder—do the residents there receive Valentine’s Day cards?
That simple yet powerful thought sparked an idea. Citlaly decided to create 80 handmade Valentine’s Day cards to spread love and joy to the residents of the rehab center. Wanting to make an even greater impact, she brought her idea to the Claxton High School leadership class and asked Mrs. Francis if her peers would help bring this vision to life. Without hesitation, the CHS Leadership team jumped on board, working together to craft heartfelt messages for the residents.
Now, thanks to Citlaly’s compassion and leadership, the CHS leadership team is hard at work, ensuring that each resident will receive a special Valentine’s card filled with love and encouragement.
This project is a beautiful reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. ❤️ Let’s continue to spread love and brighten someone’s day!
