📐✨ 7th Grade Math in Action! ✨📐

CMS 7th grade students participated in a hands-on learning activity using protractors and notecards to explore complementary and supplementary angles. They began by measuring pre-cut angles and then applied their knowledge of angle relationships to find the measures of missing adjacent angles.

It was great to see them demonstrating such a strong understanding of geometric concepts through active learning! 🔍📏

Move over, Francis Scott Key! ✍️🎤

Mr. Lewis' US History students put a new spin on 1812! After learning about the War of 1812 and the birth of our national anthem- The Star-Spangled Banner, students wrote and performed their very own versions.

It’s one thing to memorize history—it’s another to perform it! Great job to all these creative historians. 🐯🥁

Beyond the Worksheet: Real-World Budgeting in Ms. Johnson’s Class 📉💰

If you walk by Ms. Johnson’s room, you might see students hard at work on creating various beverages for the Drink Cart orders that faculty and staff have ordered, but the real magic is happening behind the scenes with the students' monthly budgets.

Students are learning that a paycheck is more than just spending money—it's about responsibility. By using the "earnings" from their time working at the Drink Cart to pay for simulated "living expenses" (rent, phone bills, and utilities), they are developing the habits they need for life after graduation.

Once the bills are settled, the remaining "profit" can be used for snacks and drinks. This hands-on approach to budgeting turns abstract math into a tangible life skill. Great job, Ms. Johnson. Ms. Martin, Ms. McNeal, and students! We hear from faculty and staff that the drinks are delicious!

🧟‍♂️ Modeling the "Zombie Apocalypse" in Advanced Algebra! 📊

Is it a movie set? No, it's math class! Coach Transue’s Advanced Algebra students are currently mastering exponential functions by simulating a zombie virus outbreak.

Using a population simulation with different markers, students tracked how a single "infection" can spread through a crowd. By shaking the population bags and recording how many new "zombies" appeared in each round, students were able to visualize:

Exponential Growth: How quickly a virus can spread through a healthy population.

Exponential Decay: The rapid reduction of the healthy population over time.

It was a fantastic, hands-on way to turn abstract equations into real-world (and fictional-world!) data. Great job, Tigers! 🖤💛
