Mrs. Phillips’ class is working hard to boost their reading skills — whether diving into literary stories or searching for text features in nonfiction texts. They are smart detectives, uncovering meaning on every page!

This year’s newest recruits are hard at work learning to function with their gear and equipment, building the skills they’ll need to serve our community. 💪
Training is taking place at the county’s new Public Safety Complex, and we are truly grateful for the partnership with the Evans County Commissioners, Evans County Fire & Rescue, and our amazing instructor, Brian Croft. 🙌👏
Go Tigers! 🐅🖤💛

This morning, sixth grader Kason Pack led the Claxton Middle School announcements. He did an excellent job representing our school, and we are proud of his leadership.

Our 2nd graders have been reading and learning about some of history’s most inspiring innovators—including Ruth Handler, Stan Lee, Walt Disney, Dr. Seuss, Jackie Robinson, and more! ✨
Each morning, the children have loved guessing who the “Person of the Day” will be by looking at their teacher’s shirts. 👕🔍 What a fun way to spark curiosity and learning!

✂️Mrs. Herrington and Ms. Courtney’s Pre-K class had a busy week building important skills while having fun together!
✨ The students practiced their scissor skills by learning how to safely cut and then used those skills to make a special “scissor salad.” 🥗
✨ They also worked on sorting by color 🌈 and counting their Goldfish 🐟 — and of course enjoyed them as a yummy snack with friends! 😋
We’re so proud of how hard they worked and how well they worked together as friends. 💕

🎭📚 Claxton High School students in Coach Lanier's Government classes took learning to the stage! Students were tasked with writing and acting out skits to demonstrate their understanding of the Supremacy Clause.
Using real-world topics, they showed how conflicts can arise between state and federal laws—and how the Constitution remains the ultimate law of the land.⚖️
This engaging project also sets the stage for their next unit: the process of amending the Constitution.
Way to go, Tigers! 🐯🖤💛 #ClaxtonHigh #TigerPride #GovernmentClass #LearningInAction #SupremacyClause

🎉 CMS Holds First Pep Rally of the Year! 🎉
Claxton Middle School held its first pep rally of the year, and the energy was amazing! We proudly recognized our softball team, cheerleaders, band members, and football team for their hard work and school spirit. Students had a blast playing Ships and Sails, and Coach Johnson fired everyone up with a message about living the Tiger ROAR.
It’s going to be a great year, and our Tigers are ready! 🐯💛🖤

🎤 Student Spotlight 🎤
A big shoutout to 6th grader Cade Tucker, who did an excellent job leading the morning announcements on Friday! Cade showed confidence, leadership, and Tiger pride as he kicked off the school day for CMS.

🌿 Science in Action with Mrs. Young’s Class 🌿
This week, students in Mrs. Young’s class explored two exciting labs!
🔆 In the Photosynthesis Lab, students observed how light impacts the rate of photosynthesis. Using a flashlight as sunlight, baking soda for carbon dioxide, and bubbles to represent oxygen, they saw the process come to life.
💨 In the Cellular Respiration Lab, students compared the air we inhale to the air we exhale, making clear the powerful connection between the processes of plants and animals.
Hands-on learning is helping our Tigers see science in action! 🐯

Mrs. Hallman’s second grade class is diving right in to nonfiction text features! The students explored exciting nonfiction books about Marvel legend Stan Lee and beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss.
Their ultimate challenge? A Nonfiction Text Features Scavenger Hunt! Students picked a nonfiction book of their choice and went on a hunt to find all the text features they’ve been learning about this week. 📖✨
Way to go, second graders—you’re becoming nonfiction pros! 👏🐯
#TigerPride #ClaxtonElementary #ReadersAreLeaders #NonfictionFun

Working in teams, they explored key stations—hot line, prep, storage, and dishwashing—matched tools to their proper areas, and decoded real menu vocabulary. 🍴📋
Coach McLean shared, “The scavenger hunt helped our students connect career skills with real workplace spaces.”
Culinary Arts Instructor, Mrs. Cindy Hart and her students also showcased professional table settings 🍽️ and reinforced the importance of kitchen safety ✅.
The visit wrapped up with a debrief on teamwork, communication, and professionalism—skills at the heart of the Transitions course. 💡🤝
