Check out some pics from our CMS 8th grade formal dance this past Friday! Members of the 8th grade class work with CMS staff on this end-of-year project to plan a theme, promote, and decorate for the event. Special shout-out to Officer McKinnon! He helped make sure our 8th graders were dance ready! Our CMS students and staff love and appreciate Officer McKinnon!

Our hearts are with the Uvalde community, and we are lifting the families, students, and staff of Robb Elementary up in love and prayers.

8th grade students enjoyed a day touring Savannah. Students were able to explore the history, careers, economic impact, and recreation provided by the hostess city. After completing a trolley tour of historic Savannah, students had a picnic at Forsyth Park.

ECCSS recognized 10 retirees at a reception on May 17th. We'd like to take a moment to shine the spotlight on each of our retirees and wish them well in retirement! Please join ECCSS in thanking Mrs. Learh Davis for her 27 years of service to the students of ECCSS!

ECCSS would like to recognize the first “class” of REACH scholars: Eleazar Trejo-Samano, Jacob DeLoach, Archie Fernandez-Segura, and MaKahley McDonough! In 8th grade, while at Claxton Middle School, these students were chosen by a panel of community judges after participating in a REACH interview. Following this interview process in 2017, these students were named our first ECCSS group of REACH scholars, and they signed their REACH scholarship contracts. Students must agree to work hard in their classes and to maintain good attendance and behavior in order to maintain their REACH scholar status and to be awarded their REACH scholarship their senior year. Students earning the REACH scholarship will receive up to $10,000 over the course of their four years of college. Funding for the REACH scholarship is provided by the state of Georgia through the REACH Initiative, in conjunction with local donations made by the Strickland Foundation. We are so thankful for the support of the Strickland Foundation in ECCSS's REACH scholarship efforts, and we are so proud of these students! Check out the pics below! Third graders wrapped up their government unit by creating their own city, complete with their own unique laws.

The ECCSS BOE office is relocating to 705 West Main Street, a site formerly serving as Claxton Middle School, the Ninth Grade Academy, and the Professional Learning Center for ECCSS. This move will result in annual estimated operational savings of $20,000 for the district, and it puts more of the ECCSS school buildings in use. The relocation will take place in phases between May 29-June 12.

Mrs. Cowart, Ms. Miyon and Ms. Taylor's Prek class made tie dye shirts on T day and then wore them for W..wacky day! They also enjoyed some yummy watermelon!

Parents, Sign your child & yourself up for the Summer Reading Program at the public library! Log books in the Beanstack app (visit the library if you need help) & you will earn prizes. Also bring your kids on Thursdays in June at 4pm for some great performers! There will also be Lego Club, Craft Time, and Story Time. All events are FREE!

Claxton Middle School (CMS) and Claxton High School (CHS) will offer physicals on Wednesday, May 25th, beginning at 8:00 AM. These physicals are for rising 6th - rising 12th-grade students. There is no cost for the physical. Students must have a parent/guardian signed permission form in order to have a physical completed. Physical permission forms can be picked up at the CMS/CHS office.

On Wednesday, May 25, CHS will be collecting 9th- 11th graders' Chromebooks and chargers. Please make sure your student returns theirs on time to avoid having to pay for replacements. Replacement fees are $300 for Chromebooks and $50 for chargers. Thank you!

Claxton High School (CHS) will have a 9th-11th grade Honors Day program on Thursday, May 26th at 1:00 PM. The program is invitation-only, and it will be held in the CHS gym. CHS students who are receiving special recognition will receive an invitation to share with their parents/guardians.

Claxton Middle School (CMS) will have an 8th grade Honors Day Program on Friday, May 27th at 8:30 AM. CMS will have a 6th-7th Honors Day Program on Friday, May 27th at 10:00 AM. Both programs will be held in the CMS gym. CMS students who have a 90 overall academic average in one or more classes or who are receiving other recognition will receive an invitation to attend.

Congratulations to Robbie Lane and Hayden Morris! On May 18th, Robbie, our Class of 2022 Valedictorian, signed his letter of intent to play baseball at East Georgia State College, and Hayden, our Class of 2022 Salutatorian, signed his letter of intent to play baseball at South Georgia State College. Both seniors thanked God, their families, teachers, coaches, and teammates for helping them along the way. Good luck Robbie and Hayden! We wish you all the best!
