THANK YOU to Allie Mock, 7th grader and avid reader for coming to share your love of books and reading with our elementary students. Allie read "If I Ran Your School" by the Cat in the Hat and "There's a Wocket in my Pocket!" by Dr. Seuss.
Her book choices were great and needless to say, the students LOVED IT!

Thank you to Officer Gene McKinnon, Claxton Police Department, for coming to read to the CES students for Read Across America week. Officer McKinnon shared a book from the "Chester the Racoon" series and the students loved it!

"The Library Dragon" by Carmen Agra Deedy was just one of the books the students in Mrs. Eason's first grade class got to hear read by Melinda Hodges. Mrs. Melinda came prepared with a bag full of books and even puppets. Several students were willing to miss recess if they could stay and hear Mrs. Melinda read more book! Thank you for sharing your love of reading, books and storytelling with our students.

Read Across America week
Supreme Miss CES, Harper West, practiced all week to be a "special" reader for Read Across America. Big sister, Tanslei was on the schedule to read and Harper wanted to be also. She took this opportunity to inspired a Pre-K class to keep learning and so they too would be readers soon. She did an amazing job reading and had mastered the skill of reading while holding the book for the audience to see. (which is no easy task)

Miss Evans County CARES, Tanslei Lupton, read "Hannah Sparkles" to a third grade class for Read Across America week. Teenagers taking the time to come and read to younger students is both encouraging and inspiring for our students. Thank you Tanslei for sharing your time with us.

Read Across America Week
CHS student and part-time media center worker, Joshua McKever, stepped up as a last-minute reader for two of our classes. One class found out he has many talents, one of which is singing. He sang "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and the students LOVE it! They then started requesting songs. One first grader requested "Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer" and another requested a "country song". He obliged them both by singing the request Christmas song as well as the first verse of Blake Sheldon's "God's Country". Needless to say the room was full of excitement, amazement, and smiles! Thanks Joshua for coming to the rescue!
