On March 18th, our High School High Tech (HSHT) students traveled to Baxley, GA, for a deep dive into the world of public safety at the Law Enforcement/First Responders Career Expo!
This wasn’t just a career fair—it was an eye-opening look at the massive variety of paths available in the field. Our students explored everything from:
Federal Agencies & Tactical Units 🕵️♂️
Emergency Management 🌪️
Forensic Investigation 🧪
Having so many experts in one place allowed our Tigers to ask the "tough" questions and hear firsthand accounts of what a day in the life truly looks like. These connections are more than just conversations—they are the building blocks for our students' future career decisions.

Students in Ms. Kearney’s elementary Ag class recently enjoyed a hands-on learning experience all about root vegetables! We were excited to welcome Ms. Ashleigh Geurin, UGA Extension Agent, who shared with our K–5 students how root vegetables are grown and harvested.
Students also learned about the important nutritional benefits of these foods, including vitamin A, fiber, potassium, and antioxidants—helping them understand how healthy choices support their bodies.
To bring the lesson to life, students read the book Tops and Bottoms and even got to taste-test baby carrots as a healthy snack! 🥕
A special thank you to the Evans County School Nutrition Program for providing the baby carrots and ranch dressing for our students.
