Mr. Turner's Basic Ag class is getting resourceful! 🌽 Students are learning all about alternative food choices for animals. They pulled sweet corn that wouldn't mature due to the recent cold snap and are repurposing it to feed the goats. What a fantastic lesson in minimizing waste and sustainable farming! 🐷🐔

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, Mrs. Tanner and Ms. Mincey chaperoned 20 8th grade students from Claxton Middle School on an exciting trip to Georgia Southern University’s Savannah campus for the RISE Experience.
The event provided students with hands-on opportunities to explore career pathways in manufacturing, logistics, and assembly, helping them connect what they’re learning in the classroom to real-world industries and future career possibilities.
Students were selected for this trip based on data from their YouScience platform, highlighting their strengths, interests, and potential career matches.

Just over a year ago, Carson Blocker walked the halls of Claxton High School as a Claxton Tiger. Today, he returned — not as a student, but as a Work-Based Learning Advisory Board Member. During today's meeting, Blocker emphasized the need for students to explore various careers so they can find something they care about doing. He added that finding this passion makes showing up everyday and taking initiative at the workplace easy.
Blocker graduated from Ogeechee Technical College and Claxton High School in 2024. He holds a diploma in HVAC and a CDL certificate. Just last night, he was named Evans County Farmer of the Year and added to the local Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
