Claxton Elementary celebrated 190 students in grades 2–5 who met their Accelerated Reader (AR) goals for the first nine weeks with an exciting space-themed performance by The Story Ship! 🌟👩🚀👨🚀
Students joined Captain Starfield on an out-of-this-world mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist, combining science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) through music, magic, and augmented reality. 🎶✨
The interactive show encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and a continued love for reading. Media Specialist Kayleigh Hunter shared, “We wanted to reward students for their hard work in a way that connects fun and learning. The Story Ship was the perfect combination of both.” 💫
Claxton Elementary will continue to host exciting AR celebrations each nine weeks to keep students motivated and inspire a lifelong love of reading! ❤️📖 #ClaxtonElementary #TigerPride #ARGoals #ReadersAreLeaders #STEAMLearning

This week, our students enjoyed Kishu Mandarin oranges from MJ Family Farm in Glennville, GA. By partnering with local farmers as part of our Farm to School Initiative, we support our community, reduce the miles food has to be transported, and provide students with the freshest produce—all while teaching them the importance of agriculture.

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten students had an exciting and educational visit from the Claxton Fire Department during Fire Prevention Week! 👩🚒👨🚒
Firefighters arrived in full gear and gave students an up-close look at their tools, fire truck, and protective equipment. They also shared important safety tips like “Stop, Drop, and Roll,” how to safely exit a home during a fire, and when to call 911.
The biggest thrill of the day? Getting to explore the fire truck and see its lights and sirens in action! 🚨✨ Teachers said the visit made fire safety lessons fun, engaging, and memorable.
A special thank-you to our amazing local firefighters for teaching our youngest Tigers how to stay safe and for all you do to protect our community! ❤️💛 #ClaxtonElementary #FirePreventionWeek #TigerPride #CommunityPartners

This week, CMS students are giving back to the community by collecting non-perishable food items on their grade-level halls.
🍎 The grade that collects the most items will earn a period of supervised fun in the gym or outside (weather permitting)!
Red Ribbon Week is all about making positive choices and helping others—and our Tigers are doing just that! 💛🖤
Let’s fill those boxes and make a difference, CMS!
