Claxton Elementary (CES), Claxton Middle (CMS), and Claxton High (CHS) recently named Teachers of the Year (TOTY) at their annual end-of-year faculty luncheons. ECCSS would like to take a moment to shine the spotlight on each of our amazing TOTYs! When asked why he wanted to become a teacher and what legacy he’d like to leave with his students, Mr. Ustun Bardak, CES TOTY, replied, "I wanted to be a teacher because of my math teacher in primary school. Fun and learning always went together in his class. It's a time when we remember and honor the day when enslaved African Americans in the United States were told that they were free. This happened on June 19, 1865, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed to end slavery. I want to open students’ eyes to Hispanic culture, prepare them for success in college, help them grow socially, and instill in them a strong work ethic. Also, please help ECCSS thank ALL of the staff, community members, and other volunteers who have assisted our SNP with packing Seven-day Meal Kits for our Tigers! Today, we extend a special THANK YOU to retired educators from the Bryan-Evans Retired Educators group: Natalie Acker, Linda Aliffi, Joyce Lockwood, and Cathy Randall! Thank you for volunteering your time and helping pack breakfasts and lunches for summer feeding! 🍎📚 💛🖤We truly appreciate each and every volunteer who has helped us this June, and we hope to be able to feature more summer feeding super-star volunteers in the coming weeks!💛🖤 Remember, summer meals are available at no cost to children 18 & under.
