Mrs. Tracey Bardak, Director of ECCSS Special Education, shared information and celebrations during the ECCSS Board of Education (BOE) meeting on Monday evening.
Our Special Education Department is committed to providing Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) for our students. This allows our teachers to focus on the standards-based needs of our students being served. Mrs. Bardak shared updates about technology resources being considered and used, including the Virtual Reality Social Skills Intervention being offered to students through a partnership with Georgia Southern University.
Mrs. Bardak shared the exciting news that CHS was chosen to host the High School High Tech Manufacturing Institute. This opportunity will allow our students to learn more about the field of manufacturing, and students can earn certifications that can help them as they pursue careers post-high school!
We appreciate all that our ECCSS Special Education Department does to make sure our students are ready for college, career, and life!

Claxton Middle School held its First Friday for the month of September today. Students who had excellent attendance, good behavior, and no missing assignments were allowed to attend. They played games, danced, and had an all around great time. Students who had missing assignments were able to use this time as a study hall to finish their assignments. First Friday is a monthly initiative to encourage students to take ownership of their attendance, behavior, and assignments, helping them become responsible and productive citizens.




CMS students in Mrs. Brown’s class reviewed vocabulary in a collaborative way that encouraged competition among teams. Teams worked together to match a vocabulary word, definition, and picture. They were justifying matches to their peers as they worked together.

Claxton Middle School will hold its annual Title I Meeting on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at 5:30 pm in the CMS Media Center. All parents are invited to attend.

Ms. Tracy Cook, Director of ECCSS Transportation, and Mr. Ron Myers, Director of Technology, shared information and celebrations during the ECCSS Board of Education (BOE) meeting on Monday evening.
Our Transportation Department is committed to using Infinite Campus to automate approved bus requests. Ms. Cook also discussed ways the transportation department is looking to build capacity and enhance offerings!
Mr. Myers shared Technology Department updates for safety and security, including system updates and the addition of extra cameras to designated areas. Mr. Myers also shared information about new technology resources that have been purchased for CES.
We appreciate all that our ECCSS Transportation and Technology Departments do to keep our students and staff safe, secure, and state-of-the-art!

CHS celebrated Wacky Wednesday by wearing mix matched attire. They also spent the day playing games, working on their house floats for the parade, and working on the 4 C's- critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication.

Yes, it was Twisted Tuesday yesterday, and we had some interesting characters on campus at CHS! We ALSO hosted our CHS ELA YGA Portfolio Project Launch!

Ms. Hedden, Ms. Brantley, Ms. Sowell, Ms. Francis, Mr. Lanier, Ms. Rabich, and Ms. Kirby collaborated to prep materials to make sure students collaborated, studied and used models of different genres of writing, participated in shares of their writing, and lots more!
The toddlers and elderly folks present inspired lots of great writing, and we appreciate all our teachers and students are pouring into their YGA Portfolios this year! We can't wait to read our students' writing!

Students in Ms. Adams's 6th grade Career Class are learning how to write and sign checks and how to maintain a transaction register correctly. This is a life skill that is part of their JA Biztown curriculum that prepares them to be productive citizens.



Dr. Tonya Blocker, Director of our ECCSS School Nutrition Program (SNP), shared SNP information and celebrations during the ECCSS Board of Education (BOE) meeting on Monday evening.
SNP is committed to excellence for students and staff, and this was reflected in their recent perfect scores in their health inspections! Dr. Blocker also shared about Harvest of the Month, a program that partners SNP, the UGA Extension Service, and GADOE to serve locally farmed and harvested food items in cafeteria meals. Dr. Blocker highlighted some CHS and SNP partnerships: Breakfast Break Fridays and an upcoming Cinnamon Roll Class. These efforts are helping our CHS students engage with our SNP in ways that will serve them in college, careers, and life!

Just a Reminder...Claxton Middle School will hold its first School Governance meeting on September 15th. The meeting will take place in the Professional Learning Room at 12 noon and last until 1:00 pm.

CMS students got to see quite a few "movie stars" on Movie Monday. Elvis, Michael Jackson, the CareBears, a Minion, and even a baseball player from A League of Their Own showed up to celebrate this fun homecoming celebration day.

Monday's game against Screven County was rained out again. We will be playing a doubleheader Today, September 13, 2022. The first game will begin at 4:30. Today is also Teacher Appreciation Day. We plan to do the Teacher Appreciation between the 2 games.
Pre-K celebrated a special breakfast for grandparents on Thursday, September 8th.
We hope all grandparents had a Happy Grandparents Day this past Sunday, September 12th!

Mrs. Watkins' Algebra 2 classes enjoyed the breezy autumn Friday afternoon and took to the outdoors to solve quadratic equations containing complex solutions in sidewalk chalk. Students collaborated in small groups to problem solve and think critically!
