Mrs. Holly Durrence, CEO of the Evans Region College and Career Academy (ERCCA), shared information and celebrations during the ECCSS Board of Education (BOE) meeting on Monday night.
Mrs. Durrence shared information about current and projected workforce needs and how ECCSS provides a variety of options for students as they prepare for life after high school. Mrs. Durrence emphasized the current and expected workforce demands for people in health and technical careers, and she shared a table showing the projected income for someone with a two-year degree, a four-year degree, and someone entering the workforce right out of high school.
Mrs. Durrence also celebrated CHS’s 2022 graduation rate. CHS’s graduation rate increased to 91.8%, 2.6 percentage points higher than last year, and 7.7 percentage points higher than the state average. CHS’s graduation rate has exceeded the state’s rate for the last five years. Additionally, CHS’s graduation rate has increased by 17.1 percentage points since 2017, the first year of the district’s strategic plan.

ECCSS educators had the wonderful opportunity to participate in externships offered by the Georgia Department of Education’s STEM/STEAM Team. The goal of the externship is to provide educators with rich professional learning to enhance subject expertise and support the development of locally-driven Project Based Learning Units.
Over the next few days, we'd like to showcase each of our educators and our community partners who helped provide these opportunities to our staff! We will share some pics of externships in action and what our educators had to say about their experiences.
Please help ECCSS recognize and celebrate Allee Keyfauver, Kelly LaSala, and Lavette Mikell, all from CES!

Firefighting involves more than fighting fires! Year two students are preparing a pre fire plan map for emergencies. This involves measuring and identifying all areas of the school and photographing specific spaces. The completed map will be accessible to emergency personnel via an electronic platform.

These pictures look like scenes from a nightly news program, but they are from our very own Audio-Video and Film Technology pathway. Year two students are working in teams to produce assigned parts of an informational video featuring each of our pathways. This film will be released to the public and used to help students identify the pathway that most closely aligns with their interests and career aspirations.
