The ECCSS BOE office is relocating to 705 West Main Street, a site formerly serving as Claxton Middle School, the Ninth Grade Academy, and the Professional Learning Center for ECCSS. This move will result in annual estimated operational savings of $20,000 for the district, and it puts more of the ECCSS school buildings in use. The relocation will take place in phases between May 29-June 12.

ECCSS would like to recognize the first “class” of REACH scholars: Eleazar Trejo-Samano, Jacob DeLoach, Archie Fernandez-Segura, and MaKahley McDonough! In 8th grade, while at Claxton Middle School, these students were chosen by a panel of community judges after participating in a REACH interview. Following this interview process in 2017, these students were named our first ECCSS group of REACH scholars, and they signed their REACH scholarship contracts. Students must agree to work hard in their classes and to maintain good attendance and behavior in order to maintain their REACH scholar status and to be awarded their REACH scholarship their senior year. Students earning the REACH scholarship will receive up to $10,000 over the course of their four years of college. Funding for the REACH scholarship is provided by the state of Georgia through the REACH Initiative, in conjunction with local donations made by the Strickland Foundation. We are so thankful for the support of the Strickland Foundation in ECCSS's REACH scholarship efforts, and we are so proud of these students! Check out the pics below! You'll see our first REACH "class" back in 2017 at their 8th grade Honors Day, and you'll see them again in 2022 at their 12th grade Honors Night! Please help us congratulate Eleazor, Jacob, Archie, and MaKahley!

The College and Career Academy (CCA) at Claxton High School is thrilled to announce our 2022-2023 pathways. We are happy to continue offerings of Accounting, Agriculture Mechanics (with Welding), Allied Healthcare, Audio-Video Technology and Film, Culinary Arts, Entrepreneurship, Firefighting, and Teaching As a Profession. We are excited to add pathways in EMR/EMT, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, and Web Design (Pathway/Foreign Language). According to Dr. Marty Waters, Superintendent of Evans County Charter School System, "The partnerships we have are instrumental in creating opportunities for us to focus our offerings. These partnerships allow us to uniquely pivot to align pathways to industry needs and developments." Holly Durrence, CEO of the Evans Region College and Career Academy (ER CCA), added, “We've partnered with Claxton Poultry to create a pipeline of industrial maintenance workers, and the addition of the EMR/EMT pathway will allow those in the county's Firefighting program to leave high school as career firefighters." "We appreciate our business and community partners. They've provided us with feedback to help us better address workforce needs. This gives our students opportunities to gain more real-world experience and better prepares them to be successful in careers. Today's exciting news from Hyundai, a $5.5 billion automobile plant that will be built near Ellabell and that is expected to employ thousands, will hopefully be another manufacturing partnership to provide career options for our students. Our CCA stands ready to make connections," Mrs. Durrence stated.

The counseling teams at CMS and CHS began releasing schedules to rising 7th-12 grade students today; rising 6th Graders will get schedules starting on May 24th at 6th Grade Orientation for Students and Families. Of course, information could change between now and the beginning of school; the counseling teams will share updated information as it becomes available. Students may use their cohort's Google Classroom to request changes. Our goal is to have all schedules situated before school starts. Once again, please know that student schedules are subject to change. While our counseling teams do not foresee major changes, small changes still need to be made to better balance classes and honor student requests.
