Firefighting and Culinary Arts worked together today! Firefighting recruits and their instructor, Brian Croft, discussed why water should not be used to put out a kitchen fire and taught culinary students how to use a fire extinguisher.

Students in CTAE classes have been made aware of this statistic and are striving to ensure their body language matches the message they want to send. Work Based Learning Students of the Month


CMS Basketball Teams will play South Tattnall here at CMS on Thursday, November 18th, at 4:00 pm. Admission is $5 for everyone.

Congratulations to our November Teacher of the Month, Amber Sapp! We thank you so much for your hard work and dedication to our students at CMS!

Claxton Middle School will hold its fall book fair after Thanksgiving break, November 29th through December 3rd. Students will visit with their ELA classes Monday through Wednesday, and students may visit on Thursday and Friday if they have money.

Update on Basketball Season Openers

Make-up pictures, as well as Club and Cohort pictures will be made on Thursday, Nov 18 beginning at 7:45am. This is the last opportunity for seniors to have their senior portraits taken. Don't miss out!

CHS student, Gage Harris, was highlighted on the iXL Facebook page. iXL is a web-based program that aligns with Georgia educational standards. Math teacher Curtis Gay uses iXL math to help his students work on building their foundational math skills. Way to go Gage!

Students in Mrs. Stephens's 8th grade science class carried out an investigation to explain the law of conservation of mass. Students were put into teams to conduct the experiment. They combined Alka-seltzer and water to observe a chemical reaction then measured the mass before and after the reaction. Fun was had by all.




CHS Beta Club installed new officers- President Jenna Floyd, Vice President Eli Waters, Secretary Valeria Hernandez-Nava, Reporter Mollie Lane, and Historian Aashi Patel. Advisors are Lee Ann Lane and Tina Durrence.

CHS Beta Club inducted new members- Daniel Perez, Justin Bacon, Jehonathan Navarro, Karly Garrison, Allie Floyd, Cameron Whitfield, Kyo Allende-Muthe, Alexis Ramirez, Reese Waters, Connor Miller, Brianna Haire, and Kaidence Allred.

On this Veterans Day, Evans County Charter School System would like to thank all who have served and are still serving. We are forever grateful.

What a special day! Brian Cooksey, Director of Workforce Development for Shaw Industries and a member of the Georgia College and Career Academy Network, toured Claxton High School and The Den. Mr. Cooksey is the son of Susan Cooksey, former CES teacher, and the late Gene Cooksey, former CMS assistant principal. We thank Mr. Cooksey for taking the time to visit with us and send tiger greetings to his mom!
