Press release -- for immediate release
The Evans County School System is happy to report that we have seen a steady decline of community transmission rates as well as Covid impacts on our schools over the last four weeks. After surveying our school administrative teams, our local school governance teams (SGTs), and our local community healthcare providers regarding our next steps for Covid mitigation efforts, Evans County School will be changing from mandatory masks to recommended masks beginning Monday, October 18, 2021, following our fall break. The district will maintain cleaning protocols, including fogging twice per week. In the event of a positive case, students/employees in direct contact would be required to quarantine (unless they were wearing a mask or are fully vaccinated). The QT period would be 10 days. After 5 days, a student/employee could test. With a negative result and asymptomatic status, he/she could return after day 8. The district will continue to emphasize good hygiene and social distancing as much as possible.
The district will discontinue weekly updates after today. We are hopeful that Covid-19 is almost completely behind us; however, in the event we begin to see an increase in cases or exposures, we will reimplement masking requirements.

We celebrate Jabari’s bravery by having a Hawaiian pool party. We can be brave and strong just like him. #GaPreKWeek
