CHS Softball Game 8/11/21 5:00 p.m. @ Mt. Vernon

What do "Wild Thing", "Three Little Birds", and "Back in Black" have in common? They can be played using the same three chords. Guitar students in Mr. McCooey's class will choose one of these songs to perform later in the week as they practice the A, D, and E chords.

Can you see it? It's a yellow ball! Students in Ms. Candice Altman's Freshman Transition class used collaboration, communication, and a growth mindset to pass the ball to each person in the group as quickly as possible. After three different attempts, this winning team was able to complete the task in ten seconds.

Evans County Firefighter and CHS Firefighting Instructor Brian Croft introduced his young recruits to three qualities that will serve them well in any career--integrity, honor, and pride.

These Nurse Aide students are working together to create a skit that exemplifies one of the characteristics that healthcare workers must possess.

Today's Softball Games Cancelled

Based upon guidelines from the CDC and DPH District 4, the Evans County Charter School System will be implementing the attached guidelines for the 2021-2022 school year.

August Lunch and Breakfast Menu

Softball Tournament 4:00 at Tattnall

Football Scrimmage Tonight!

First Day of School: Monday, August 9, 2021
Masks are required to ride the school bus.

Evans County continues to be in a high transmission zone due to the number of positive cases. In collaborating with local health officials, the largest age group affected is 34-54 year olds. The district has also worked with these health partners to provide vaccine clinics for employees. Currently 67% of school district employees are vaccinated. Based upon these, and other factors, Evans County Schools will return to a full 5-day per week instructional model beginning Monday, August 9, 2021. Masks will be mandatory for all faculty, staff, and students for at least the remainder of August.
The district will continue emphasizing best practices: wear a mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance. All buildings will be cleaned daily and sanitized (fogged) twice per week. Buses will be sanitized daily. The district will continue to follow CDC and DPH guidelines for quarantining.
Athletic practices and events will continue as they follow GHSA guidance and recommendations.
"While we all are excited to return to school and resume a normal routine, the challenges of Covid-19 and the Delta variant are very real. We are prepared to return to face to face instruction and implement as many mitigation strategies as possible. However, we all must be diligent in doing what we can to stop the spread in order to keep schools operating normally."
Dr. Marty Waters, Superintendent of Evans County Charter School System.
The Senior Breakfast and pictures scheduled on Monday have been canceled. We will let you know when these events can be rescheduled.

Press Release - For immediate release
After monitoring community infection rates, consulting with local health officials, and reviewing our return to school guide, the Evans County Charter School System will delay the start of school for students and faculty until Monday, August 9, 2021. The decision came after Covid-19 status for the district was classified as a rapid transmission zone (red zone).
The district will continue to monitor rates and develop plans to move to an A/B hybrid model IF necessary. Masks will be mandatory upon return unless numbers have reduced. If possible, the district will make a decision by Thursday, August 5th.
Athletic practices and events will continue as they follow GHSA guidance and recommendations.
A registration link will be provided on the district website in an attempt to provide support to parents who are attempting to enroll students.
"While we all are excited to return to school and resume a normal routine, it is simply too risky to do so right now. We are hopeful to get back on August 9th. If we are able to do so, it will be four weeks earlier than last fall." Dr. Marty Waters, Superintendent of Evans County Charter School System
