Do you get frustrated with cords and just throw them in a corner or closet? Well, students in Audio-Video can show you how to roll your cords so that they store easily and remain knot free. Believe it or not, there is a method to this madness! Check out the students' hands as they properly prepare the cords for storage. Mr. Hallman puts the students' work to the test: Throw the cord in a straight line. No knot equals success! #theden

Press release - The Evans County Charter School System began school for the 2021-2022 school year on Monday, August 9, 2021. As part of the mitigation efforts, masks were required. We are pleased to report this week that zero cases in school resulted in required isolation and/or quarantine. All reported numbers for this week are cases where parents/employees notified the district of a positive case and/or exposure and they self-isolated or self-quarantined. Evans County remains a community with severe transmission rates. We are cautiously optimistic about the data; however, we will remain vigilant in our mitigation efforts to reduce spread in school and in our community.

Students completed a Lego directions activity. They created a six piece "masterpiece" and then wrote down their creation directions. Students switched disassembled creations and tried to follow their peer's written directions to build it. The room was filled with laughter!!! Students had to write in their science journal the importance of not only following directions, but writing good directions as well! Communication is very important!

The Evans Region College and Career Academy is committed to preparing our students to be workforce ready. This means we are intentionally teaching, practicing, and instilling in our students soft skills that regional employers value. Communication is one of these employability skills, and a major part of effective communication involves active listening. Students in Freshman Seminar wrote and acted out a conversation that reflected two of the active listening strategies that they studied.

"Smooth, bump, bump--to the pump!" Students in the Firefighting Pathway used this mnemonic to help them complete a simulated emergency response situation. Wearing their Nomex hoods, which served as smoke, the students felt their way to safety. In addition, the team was able to rescue the 160 pound victim (the class mannequin). At the end of the exercise, the equipment was properly rolled, and emergency teams reported their success.
