The Evans Region College and Career Academy was gifted a beautiful piece of art today! Allen Rowland and Robbie Bell purchased the piece from the estate sale of Enrique Arias. Arias was an expert in Latin American economic policy and chief executive officer for Barclays Bank in Latin America and the Caribbean. He helped rebuild his native country of Panama, and for this work, the Panamanian government awarded him the Order of Vasco Nunez de Balboa, which is among the country's highest honors. Throughout his adult life, Arias was an art collector and purchased many works of art throughout Latin America. Rowland envisioned the piece in a Culinary Arts lab and connected with Cindy Hart, Culinary Arts instructor. The art will be hung in the classroom portion of the lab and will greet students and guests from up high. Rowland served the people of Evans County for many years through his work as nurse practitioner at the Evans County Health Department. Today he continues his service in public health and works predominantly in Bulloch County. We are grateful to Rowland for his contributions to our school and community!

CHS and The DEN were proud to be part of today's Blessing of the Crops sponsored by Evans County Farm Bureau and the Claxton-Evans County Chamber of Commerce! FFA members Colin Thornton and Josue Ramos accompanied their Ag instructor, Sydney Miller, to this event where Thornton led the Pledge of Allegiance. These CCA representatives enjoyed interacting with guest speaker, Dominique LaRiccia, the Field Service Director for the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Yesterday students in Culinary Arts assisted in the creation of strawberry muffins and fruit kabobs that were served at this morning's program. Fresh strawberries grown in Evans County were used to make these beautiful breakfast items. The college and career academy appreciates opportunities to partner with our community and provide our students leadership experiences. #TheDEN #agriculture

🌪️🌦️ Science in Action with Mrs. Myers’ 6th Grade Earth Science Class! 🌦️🌪️ Last week, Mrs. Myers' 6th grade Earth Science class students didn’t just learn about extreme weather — they experienced it! Through the Learning Dome by Operation Teach: FORCE FIVE, our young scientists took on the roles of hurricane hunters and storm chasers, diving deep into how storms form and unleash their power. From the devastation of the 1900 Galveston hurricane to standing in the eye of a tornado and witnessing solar storms, students connected their learning to real-world meteorology in an unforgettable way. On 3/19/25, CHS students traveled to Baxley, GA to attend the Law Enforcement and First Responder Agency Expo! 🎉👮‍♂️🚒 Our students had an amazing opportunity to explore careers in law enforcement and emergency services. They interacted with professionals from agencies like: ✅ FBI ✅ DEA ✅ GBI & GBI Crime Lab ✅ US Marshals ✅ Army & National Guard ✅ Local Sheriff & Police Departments Students also witnessed some incredible demonstrations including: 💥 Detonation of explosives 🔥 Extinguishing an inflamed propane tank 🐾 K-9 unit in action ⚡️ Live taser demo 🚁 Walkthrough of a CH-47 Chinook Helicopter 🎯 Shooting simulations and more!
