Claxton Elementary (CES), Claxton Middle (CMS), and Claxton High (CHS) recently named Teachers of the Year (TOTY) at their annual end-of-year faculty luncheons. ECCSS would like to take a moment to shine the spotlight on each of our amazing TOTYs! When asked about the path that led her to teaching, Ms. Deidre Gordon, CHS's TOTY, replied, "I started out at Georgia Southern with a pre-med biology major. All of my life I had planned to be a doctor and cure arthritis for my grandmother. During my junior year, I took an education course as an elective. I knew immediately that I had found my calling. Education was in my blood. My father was a high school principal, and my mother was a high school ELA teacher and media specialist." Our outstanding school resource officers and nurses attended the Georgia Alliance of School Resource Officers and Educators Conference in Athens! They're dedicated to ensuring our students' safety and well-being. This conference allowed them to share knowledge, learn new strategies, and collaborate with peers from other schools. We're proud of their commitment to professional development and grateful for the invaluable support they provide to our educational community. 🚓💉
