CMS held its annual Academic Awards ceremonies today for 8th grade, at 8:15 AM, and 6th and 7th grades, at 9:45 AM. Students received an award for having an A average in their classes. Other special awards such as high PSAT scores, Writing, and REACH Scholarship recipients were also given. Emmie Stanfield (6th), Allisson Martinez (7th), and Gabriel Trejo-Samano (8th) were awarded with the Highest Scholastic Average Award in their grade levels. Congratulations to our students on their academic achievements, and we look forward to great things from you in the future!

On Tuesday, May 23rd, CMS held its House Celebration. All students were invited to participate in games such as tug of war, sponge relay, hula hoop relay, and dress relay. Students who met their MAP goals for the spring testing session were given tickets to dunk their teachers in the dunking booth. The house that won the most points for the year was the House of Reveur, and those students received a free snack and drink from the concession stand. Congratulations to the House of Reveur, and a shout out to all students who met their MAP testing goal!

Please help ECCSS recognize and celebrate Justin Bacon, a member of the Class of 2023 at CHS! Justin was announced as the 2023 High School High Tech (HSHT) Computer Competition winner! Justin was an active participant in HSHT transition activities, created a power point of “How a PC can help me transition to work or further education,” and nominated by a teacher who praised his outstanding performance. During the Senior Honors Night Ceremony, Ms. Sandra McBride, the HSHT Program Coordinator, presented Justin with a BRAND NEW LAPTOP for being named the 2023 HSHT Computer Competition champ! JUST A REMINDER...The CMS academic awards program is tomorrow. The 8th grade program will begin at 8:15, and the 6/7th grades program will begin at 9:45. Students were told if they are receiving an award.

CMS would like to give a shout out to all of our student leaders who helped with 6th Grade Orientation on Monday, May 22nd. You did a great job of representing our school, and we couldn't have done it without you!

CHS report cards can be picked up from the CMS/CHS office June 5th- June 21st 7:00am-3:00pm. Final grades can be accessed through the parent portal of Infinite Campus. CHS students who need to attend Summer School will receive a letter in the mail with further information.

Please help ECCSS recognize and celebrate Ashley Cerro Montoya, a 10th-grade student at CHS! Ashley was selected to participate in the Migrant Education Summer Leadership Academy (MESLA) at Valdosta State University (VSU). The two-week residential program is designed to expose participants to campus life at VSU through activities and classes with VSU faculty and staff. The program emphasizes the importance of students earning a high school diploma. The program is also designed to help current eligible migrant education students improve their math, social studies, and science skills, so that they may be better prepared to fulfill the requirements for high school graduation in Georgia. In addition to academic instruction, students will participate in other fun activities, including a ropes course, swimming instruction, a movie, and soccer. Congrats, Ashley! CMS hosted a 6th grade orientation for parents on Monday, May 22nd. Parents were given important information to help their children be successful students at CMS in the fall.
