💛🖤💛 📝Students across the district have been working on their annual MLK Writing Competition pieces! This year, students focused on one of our 4Cs and wrote about how leaders have communicated change to make the world fairer for everyone!📝 💛🖤💛 🍦🖊️📚At CES, for the first round of the competition, each grade level named and recognized the top five MLK writers! These awesome Tiger writers were treated to an ice cream, journals to decorate, and a new pen to continue on their writing journey. 🍦🖊️📚 👏Congratulations to these writers and good luck to them as they compete in the next round of the competition to determine a top-five for the K-2 and 3-5 grade bands!👏 #ReadySetGrow #MLK

On Tuesday and Wednesday, 15 CMS Beta Club students traveled with BETA sponsors Ginger Durrence, Stephanie Myers, and Hollie Ikner to Savannah to attend the Georgia State Beta Club Convention which was held at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center. This gave the students the opportunity to compete in various divisions with students from all over the state. There were about 3,000 middle schoolers who attended. The club brought back two awards that qualify CMS BETA for the National BETA Convention in June, also being held in Savannah. Our students showed great character and represented CMS well! They learned the importance of displaying the four pillars of BETA (achievement, character, leadership, and service) in their lives on a daily basis. They also learned a valuable lesson of "Be to Get." This means that they have to be willing to be and do the things that others don't want to be or do in order to become the things others want but aren't willing to do what is necessary to achieve it...success means hard work! A big thank you to Mr. Harris and Officer McKinnon for spending the afternoon and being there for extra support! Also, thanks to Mr. Burney for driving the bus. More details about individual competitions coming soon! #RoarANDSoar #Betafamous
