Mollie Lane, a senior at Claxton High School, was recognized as Claxton High School's 2024 STAR Student at the 2024 STAR Luncheon on Tuesday, February 6, held at the Veterans Community Center and sponsored by the Claxton- Evans County Chamber of Commerce. Mollie chose Mrs. Susan Todd as her STAR Teacher. Mrs. Todd was recognized at the luncheon also. We in Evans County are fortunate to have a wonderful local hospital, and we are especially grateful that they support our community in multiple ways. Did you know that EMH is another partner for our Work-Based Learning program at CHS? Pictured is senior Ava Adams, who is employed at EMH in the medical/surgical department. Ava has become an integral member of their team, and in addition to building relationships, she has gained invaluable experience in the medical field. After graduation, she plans to attend Georgia Southern University and major in exercise science with the ultimate goal of becoming an occupational therapist. Students in Mrs. Nicoli's Social Studies classes have begun a study on Europe. They are currently talking about different physical features across the continent. In the activity pictured, students were placed into groups, and each group got to draw a country in Europe. Over the next couple of months, they will dive deep into learning about the country they drew. #4Cs #RoarANDSoar

Today's STAR Banquet featured five-star dishes, and three of these were prepared by Mrs. Hart and her Culinary Arts students! The apple walnut salad dressed in pear gorgonzola paired nicely with the hearty meal, and homemade banana pudding and chocolate delight served as the final course. Ideas, blueprints, reality! Students in Mr. Hall's Basic Agriculture and Introduction to Construction classes are studying blueprints. Students have learned to interpret blueprints, and during this second round, were given a picture and expected to create a blueprint. Soon these blueprints will come to life! Look closely and you will notice that students are also learning phone etiquette. This soft skills lesson was requested by many of our 53 Work-Based Learning employers. #TheDEN #skillsforlife
