Mrs. Lane's Intro to Business & Business Law classes researched "dead" companies & created items for this "scary" cemetery for Halloween. In their research, the students learned about what the company was, how long it was in business, & what led to it going out of business. #TheDEN #PracticalBusinessKnowledge

As October comes to a close, we couldn't let it slip by without a huge shoutout to all our amazing guests who joined CHS, The DEN, and Ogeechee Tech for a fantastic Business After Hours event!
Once again, our Culinary Arts classes wowed us with their delectable spread and warm hospitality. Huge thanks to Mrs. Hart and her talented students for their incredible contributions to our community!

Class of 2024 students and parents/guardians, if you missed out on the Senior Order Day at CHS, you can still order online at www.gradnow.com.

When you’re out and about in town, look for our CHS students in various businesses. Our Work-Based Learning juniors and seniors are contributing to the community in a variety of jobs. Senior Charles Oglesby is helping customers at Claxton Hardware & Building Supply. Whether you need project supplies or something to enhance that seasonal curb appeal, Charles can help you out. Nice job, Charles! #TheDen #RealLife

CMS 7th and 8th grade students had the opportunity to participate in TEEN MAZE on Friday, October 27th. TEEN MAZE began on Thursday evening, October 26th, with a community night where parents were able to view a sample of what their children would see the next day. Then, on Friday, 7th and 8th graders spent most of the day, beginning with a party scene and crash scene portrayed by members of the CHS Drama Team. Then students rotated through stations where they were given important information about gangs, vaping, sexual behavior/abuse, life and loss, social media and internet safety, abusive behavior, life skills and financial planning, substance and drug abuse, learners and drivers licenses, and how to know their worth. After the rotations and lunch, a guest speaker, Ms. Marni, spoke to the students about her daughter who unfortunately committed suicide at a young age. It is our hope at CMS that our students will take this information that has been presented and use it to help them make wise decisions that will help them become successful, productive citizens. We appreciate so much all who helped make this a successful event.

CHS celebrated Red Ribbon Week with style and fun. Thank you to everyone who participated. #BlackAndGold #MakingMemories #BeGreat #LearnAndLead

The Native American proverb, "It takes a thousand voices to tell a single story," is a great reminder of one of our 7 Mindsets- We Are Connected.

🎉🎃Congratulations to our grade level pumpkin winners!🎃🎉

The Claxton High School Nutrition Program was awarded a Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) ARPA Equipment Grant by the Georgia State Board of Education. A Vulcan steam-jacketed kettle was purchased with the grant. Miley Plumbing was contracted to deliver and install the new equipment in the CMS/CHS kitchen.

High school students, have you earned your service hours for the year? Look around you for opportunities to be of service to others.
Last night Kaidence Allred and Alyssa Jones worked at the First Responder Appreciation Dinner. These ladies made life-long connections with those in our community and helped serve the delicious meal.

CMS students in Ms. Toothman's 5th period math class celebrated reaching their first achievement goal this year. Each class had an IXL goal of 50 points, and 5th period (6th graders) was the first class to meet the goal. They were celebrated with a special treat, courtesy of Ms. Toothman and Ms. Phillips. Congratulations, students! We are proud of your hard work!

Brian Croft, Evans County Fire Chief and Instructor at CHS, taught the School Nutrition staff at CES and CMS/CHS about Fire Safety in the School Kitchen. As part of the training, the cafeteria staff practiced putting out fires by using the P.A.S.S. steps: 1) Pull the pin; 2)Aim at the base of the fire; 3) Squeeze the handle; and 4) Sweep side to side.

Yesterday marked year sixteen of the Annual First Responder Appreciation Dinner! Each year the community rallies to recognize these men and women who are on the frontline during emergencies. Thank you to each of these individuals for caring for Evans County!
Pictured are junior firefighters who attended with their instructor, Brian Croft. Thank you to organizers for including our students in this event!
