🐾💛🖤 Special Tiger Pride Shout-Out! 💛🖤🐾

We are ALWAYS proud of all our Tiger athletes, but this week we want to send an extra loud cheer to our incredible Flag Football Lady Tigers as they head to Columbus to compete in the Playoffs! These girls have worked so hard, and we couldn’t be more proud!

And let’s not forget the ones who are usually leading the cheers on the sidelines — our Competition Cheerleaders are taking the floor at the Game Day State Competition at the Columbus Civic Center Thursday morning at 8:20 AM!
This is the first time in 31 years a Claxton High School Competition Cheer team will be competing, and we are beyond excited to watch these girls perform and represent Claxton with pride!

Deep Dive into WWII History! 🧠

Coach Lanier's class has been examining the complex history of Japan, tracing its path from a traditional state to an empire and finally to a democracy. Students covered Japan's reasoning for bombing Pearl Harbor and the intense battles in the Pacific Theater. 🚢

Aftere a lesson focused on the United States' decision to use the atomic bomb, students then engaged in a thoughtful and rigorous debate on whether the use of the bomb was historically justified. This is critical thinking in action! 💡

Confidence is Cooking! 🧑‍🍳

What a heartwarming "Friendsgiving" in Ms. Johnson, Ms. Keta, and Ms. Katie's class! Paired with CHS peer mentors, the students excelled in a collaborative cooking activity.

By taking on specific tasks and supporting one another, the students boosted their confidence in daily living tasks and strengthened their social interaction skills. Nothing beats the feeling of accomplishment—especially when it leads to a shared meal and great conversation about gratitude!

Last Thursday, our basketball students took a moment during the games to show appreciation for the amazing educators who support them every day. 🏀

📊✨ Ms. Swift’s Class is Exploring Statistics! ✨📊

This week, Ms. Swift’s students have been learning all about statistical data. Each student chose their own topic — anything they were curious about — and collected information to analyze.

Using their data, they created:
➡️ Pictographs
➡️ Bar graphs

Students learned how to organize information, represent it visually, and explain what their graphs show. It’s been so exciting to see them take ownership of their learning and explore topics they care about!

So proud of their creativity and hard work! 🌟📚

Today was a beautiful beginning!

Our ninth graders met their mentors for the very first time—and the room was filled with smiles, handshakes, warm conversations, and the kind of encouragement every student deserves. This is what happens when a community shows up: students feel seen, supported, and ready to take on the future.

We are incredibly grateful for our first ever career coaches!

Miss Wetherington’s 8th grade Health classes spent time researching the four dimensions of health—mental, physical, emotional, and social—and connecting each one to real-life examples from both school and home. 🧠💪💬🤝

Claxton High School is hosting the Shepeard Community Blood Center on Friday, November 21, 2025! We invite our students (who meet the requirements) and the entire community to donate.

🗓️ Date: Friday, November 21st ⏰ Time: 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. 📍 Location: CHS, in the Healthcare Science classroom.

Important Donor Requirements:

You must be at least 16 years old to donate.

16-year-old students require parental consent. See Mrs. Welch for the form.

Photo ID is required at the time of donation.

We're gathering to celebrate the season with our FFA Thanksgiving Dinner! All FFA members and their families are invited for an evening of food and fellowship.

Here are the details:

When: Thursday, November 20, 2025

Time: 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM

Where: CMS/CHS Cafeteria

The FFA Chapter will provide the meat and drinks. We kindly ask that all attending FFA members and their families bring a side dish to share (potluck style).

🎉 Celebration Time in Mrs. Hallman's Class! 🎉

Mrs. Hallman's 2nd graders earned a Pajama Day by spelling out the word ATTENDANCE — one letter at a time! Each day the entire class AND their teacher were present, they earned another letter.

They reached their goal and chose a cozy Pajama Day to celebrate their awesome attendance and teamwork! 💤📚✨

Way to go, 2nd grade! 👏💙

We’re counting down to Friday’s Meet Your Mentor Event, where participating ninth graders will connect with one of 55 trained community volunteers.

One mentor, Sloane Hall-Clark, was eager to support her student, so she came today—ready to listen, encourage, and begin building that relationship. Moments like this capture the heart of the program: community members investing their time and believing in the potential of our Tigers.

Friday can’t come soon enough. Our mentors are ready, our students are eager, and The DEN is proud to create these powerful connections that help every ninth grader thrive.
