Through a captivating magic trick involving a vanishing coin, they explored the wonders of bending light and uncovering hidden secrets. But that's not all! With the sun shining brightly and the weather on our side, they delved even deeper into the spectacle of nature. Using prisms to disperse light, they watched in awe as ordinary sunlight transformed into a breathtaking array of colors, painting the sky with vibrant rainbows. 🌞🌈 In a moment of discovery, one student astounded us all by mastering the art of refraction, successfully isolating the color red from the spectrum. 🎉✨ Leap Day Celebration Alert! ✨🎉 Mrs. Cowart, Ms. Christin, and Ms. Amber's classes had a blast celebrating Leap Day in style! 🌍💫 They discovered that it takes Earth 365 days and 6 hours to complete its orbit around the sun, leading to an extra day every 4 years - February 29th! 🗓️🚀 To mark this special occasion, they leaped 29 times, crafted amazing hats, and enjoyed other fun activities! 🎩🐸 And let's not forget a very special Sweet 16 shoutout to Mrs. Dorcus Moore, our esteemed Board member, celebrating on this extra special day! 🎂🎈 Here's to making every extra day count! 🌟 #ReadySetGrow #LeapDayFun

Collaboration doesn't just happen in the classroom! It happens between instructors and business partners. Yesterday area healthcare partners, Ogeechee Technical College instructors, and Evans Region College and Career Academy faculty met to create a plan for helping this year's Certified Nursing Assistant Cohort earn their volunteer hours, complete their clinicals, and gain knowledge through guest speaker appearances from these providers. Soon these partners look forward to introducing fifteen CNAs to our community! The opportunities are endless for our CHS Work-Based Learning students. Senior Wade Eller enjoys working with his hands and being outdoors, and his role as farm assistant with Delta Transport is a perfect fit. He is able to do everything from caring for farm animals to landscaping, and he enjoys it all. Through this job placement, Wade puts to use the knowledge he gained in his agricultural classes. After high school, he plans to pursue a different type of outdoor, hands-on work. He plans to pursue certification as a lineman. CHS is very proud of you, Wade! #BlackAndGoldBuildingSuccess #TheDEN

Ms. Driggers' 4th Graders Learn Multiplication with Shaving Cream Fun! 🧼✖️ Ms. Driggers’ 4th grade math class got messy and multiplied their learning today! The students practiced their multiplication facts by writing them out with shaving cream. Engaging their sense of touch made learning these math facts fun and hands-on! ✏️🤩 #ReadySetGrow

Do you ever wonder what CHS alumni are doing? Economic Development Authority Director, Adam Kennedy, and The DEN's CEO, Holly Durrence, met up with Carol Moore Adams, CHS Class of 1981, when she provided business and industry members a tour of her worksite. Adams serves as the Quality Assurance Manager at Cardinal Glass in Statesboro and has worked at the facility for 25 years. This HSHT-sponsored training emphasized responsible and safe online behavior for high school students, covering crucial aspects such as Digital Footprint & Identity, Privacy & Security, Cyberbullying and Online Harassment, and Responsible Content Consumption and Sharing. The trainers, Mrs. Stephanie Bell and Ronald Smith, reminded students that being responsible and safe online starts with making conscious choices. The training's purpose was to ensure that students can navigate the digital world confidently and protect their online and offline well-being. #TigerPride #RealLife

Students Get Hands-On with Science Experiments in Ms. Baxter's 5th Grade Class Ms. Baxter's science students had a blast this week conducting experiments to observe physical and chemical changes. It was an engaging way for the 5th graders to see science concepts in action! 🔬👦👧 #ReadySetGrow #STEM

On Friday, February 23rd, CMS 8th graders traveled to Savannah, GA, to the Historic Downtown Savannah Theater to watch a collection of plays. Titles included, The Raven; The Tell-Tale Heart; The Monkey's Paw; The Necklace; The Legend of Sleepy Hollow; and The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. This trip gave our students the opportunity to visit Historic Savannah and take part in a dramatic arts experience focused on classic short stories.

Ms. Driggers' Tigers Learn About Winter in Tiger Time ❄️ Ms. Driggers’ class has been reading nonfiction articles about avalanches, snowshoes, and adapting to cold weather during their Tiger Time. To reward the students for their hard work learning about winter topics, they got to have some snowy fun and made their own "snow" to play with! Back in January, Mrs. Hallman's second grade Tiger time class was learning about nonfiction text features. Their culminating activity was to become text feature surgeons! 😷 Upon entering Mrs. Hallman's OR, students donned masks and gloves and excised examples of text features from magazines and newspapers to put in their operating room manuals. They had a blast reviewing all they'd learned about text features! #ReadySetGrow
