Students in Mrs. Watkins and Ms. Toothman’s 8th grade math classes have officially completed Lesson 1 of Unit 1 — and they did it with a ROAR! 📚💡
Using Algebra tiles and balance scales, students explored and explained each step of solving linear equations. But it wasn’t just about math — it was a clear display of our ROAR expectations in action:
🔹 R – Respect for Others: Working collaboratively and supporting each other
🔹 O – Own Your Actions: Taking responsibility for their learning and thinking
🔹 A – Act Safely: Using tools and materials with care and purpose
🔹 R – Ready to Engage: Fully participating and staying focused throughout the lesson
We’re proud of our 8th graders for showing what it means to ROAR both in and out of the classroom. Keep up the great work! 🙌✨

🗓️🐾 Monday at CMS: Straight to Business! 🐾🗓️
The first Monday of the school year at Claxton Middle School was all about setting the tone for success. Students gathered with CMS Principal, Mrs. Angie Snyder, to dive into “The Claxton Tiger Way” and review our school-wide expectations through ROAR — the foundation of our school culture.
💛 R – Respect Yourself and Others
🖤 O – Own Your Actions
💛 A – Act Safely
🖤 R – Ready to Engage
With Mission: Possible guiding our path this year, students are already stepping up to the challenge and showing what it means to live the Tiger Way — with integrity, accountability, and pride.
We’re off to a strong start, and the mission continues! 🐯🎯

The Evans County School Nutrition Program employees kicked off another school year by attending a back-to-school training at Southeastern Technical College last Thursday. ✨ First Day of Spanish 1 with Mrs. Francis! ✨
On Friday, August 1, our students kicked off the year with a hands-on activity designed to build a key college-ready skill: reading and analyzing independently. 📚✏️
Spanish is a rigorous elective that fulfills the four-year university admission requirement, and at Claxton High School, we are committed to preparing ALL students for success in college, career, and community.
Students partnered up and rotated through syllabus review and analysis stations, where they:
🔍 Located specific sections of the syllabus
🤝 Collaboratively analyzed the information
✅ Applied their understanding through real-life scenarios, fill-in-the-blanks, and true/false questions.
This activity not only helped students understand class expectations but also modeled the thinking and self-management skills they'll need in the classroom and the real-world!
