Read Across America week
Supreme Miss CES, Harper West, practiced all week to be a "special" reader for Read Across America. Big sister, Tanslei was on the schedule to read and Harper wanted to be also. She took this opportunity to inspired a Pre-K class to keep learning and so they too would be readers soon. She did an amazing job reading and had mastered the skill of reading while holding the book for the audience to see. (which is no easy task)

Miss Evans County CARES, Tanslei Lupton, read "Hannah Sparkles" to a third grade class for Read Across America week. Teenagers taking the time to come and read to younger students is both encouraging and inspiring for our students. Thank you Tanslei for sharing your time with us.

Read Across America Week
CHS student and part-time media center worker, Joshua McKever, stepped up as a last-minute reader for two of our classes. One class found out he has many talents, one of which is singing. He sang "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and the students LOVE it! They then started requesting songs. One first grader requested "Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer" and another requested a "country song". He obliged them both by singing the request Christmas song as well as the first verse of Blake Sheldon's "God's Country". Needless to say the room was full of excitement, amazement, and smiles! Thanks Joshua for coming to the rescue!

Read Across America week. Mrs. McDowell, CMS Principal and Ms. Layne Peacock, CHS Media Specialist, took a short break from the older students and enjoyed reading a book to our younger ones. Both of these ladies have a love of students and reading which was evident, as they shared their time and their book. Thank You!

Read Across America Week
Huge "THANK YOU" to Kristy Mock, Evans County Family Connections, for her committment to sharing her love for students, learning and especially reading. She not only helped recruit readers for Read Across America week but she also came to CES 3 days and read multiple times each day to ensure each and every class had a guest reader. Thank you doesn't seem like nearly enough but your time and efforts are greatly appreciate by CES and especially Mrs. Price!

Students in Mrs. Francis's Spanish I class are working together to describe their teachers in the pictures posted around the room. English speakers write their descriptions in Spanish, and Spanish speakers write their descriptions in English. This way, all students are practicing the language that is second to them.
