Attention Tiger Fans!!! Claxton earned a chance to play for first place in region 3A on Tuesday night at home. Claxton will have the opportunity to avenge their only region 3A loss of the season to Screven County. Come out to the 6pm tip off at Durell Lynn Arena/Claxton High School to support your Lady Tigers!!!


Third graders are applying their area and perimeter skills by designing a new zoo filled with adventures. They are also recording commercials for the advertisement of their zoo.





The Lego Club has been busy creating! This week, they used the Stop Motion app to create videos using their Lego creations.




3rd grade students in Mrs. Shaul’s WIN group read an article about video games. They created and presented a Google Slide presentation with the author’s point of view and their own opinion on video games.

On Groundhog Day, Ms. McElveen's students predicted 6 more weeks of winter. To show their predictions, each student used 1 standing up teddy graham for the ground hog and added a second one laying down if they thought he was going to see his shadow.





February Work Based Student of the Month- Shawna Dowd


The Evans County Community MLK Writing and Oratorical Competition has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 12th, from 10:00-12:00 at the CMS Gym. Congratulations to the top winners. This will be a great opportunity for our 3rd-12th grade students to show off their communication skills.


Look at these precious little ones! They LOVED being community helpers by picking up trash on the playground to help our school look better! They are learning about community helpers this week.





Dr. Rico Williams, Admissions Representative from Universal Technical Institute (UTI) visited Mr. Hall's classes to discuss UTI offerings- Automotive Tech, Nascar Tech, CNC Machinist, Collision Repair, Diesel Tech, Welding Tech, Motorcycle Tech, and Power & Performance training.





Students in Mrs. Kirby’s Pre-K class wrapped up their unit on bears this week by sharing their own bears with the class!

CHS Beta Club members competed at state January 26-28 in Savannah. Students who finished Top 5 & advance to nationals in Nashville TN: Eli Waters- Performing Arts; Mollie Lane- Speech; Kaelyn Smith- Social Studies. Eli Waters was also named as a National Beta Premier Performer.


Third grade students worked together and used “clues” to determine the main idea of each bag!

Oh my! Bears!!!
Mrs. Cowart, Ms. Miyon and Ms. Taylor's class had a fun week learning about bears and hibernation. On Friday, students brought a bear from home and had show and tell. Lots of math and comparing activities were done!





More of the art pieces created by Mrs. Smith's CHS art students. The pieces will be in an art exhibit entitled “A Brief Moment in the Sun” from March 2 though May 15 at Reconstruction Era National Historical Park in Beaufort, SC.





Art pieces by Savannah Deen, Brianna Haire, Ella Wilkie, Callie Trani, Rebecca Johnson, and Philomena Bautista-Rodriguez will be in an art exhibit entitled “A Brief Moment in the Sun” from March 2 though May 15 at Reconstruction Era National Historical Park in Beaufort, SC.





Mrs. Kirk and Mrs. Hagan’s class practiced their subtraction facts using their penguins.
