Evans County Charter School System

We hope all of our Tigers and our community are safe in the aftermath of Helene. Due to the impacts of Helene, ECCSS schools & offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 30 through Thursday, Oct. 3. Depending on power restoration and food deliveries, the closure may extend beyond Thursday, October 3. We plan to provide an update by Wednesday, October 2, at 2:00 PM. We know there are many in our community, like us, who are without power, cell service, and internet access. If you are able to help us safely spread the word about this closure, we appreciate any assistance you can provide. Below are decisions ECCSS made thus far: All after school activities, sports, meetings, and other school-sponsored events are cancelled for Monday, September 30-Thursday, October 3; we will make a decision about the football game that is scheduled for Friday night later this week. As events are rescheduled, dates can be found on our website by using our calendar tab (https://www.evans.k12.ga.us/page/calendars-and-events). Homecoming activities are being postponed at this time. The CHS Athletic Hall of Fame is being postponed to a later date. Due to the current road conditions, we will run our Alternate Bus Stop Routes (https://tinyurl.com/5x77n2wf) when we return. It has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 12, at 10 AM. 🍏🍎 Apple-tastic Learning Adventure! 🍎🍏 This week in Ms. Hendrix and Mr. Allen’s class, we’ve been diving into the world of apples! 🍏✨ We explored the parts of an apple, learned about the apple life cycle, and discovered creative ways to enjoy this delicious fruit! To wrap it all up, we had an awesome Apple Tasting Party! 🎉 We sampled apples of every color and tried some unique apple treats. The highlight? 🍎🍏 Pre-K Apple Fun! 🍏🍎 Mrs. Herrington and Ms. Courtney’s Pre-K class had an amazing time learning all about apples this week! 🍏 Students explored the parts of an apple, studied its life cycle, and participated in fun activities like sorting apples by color and creating their own life cycle models. 🍎 They also enjoyed tasting apple pie, applesauce, and different colored apples to pick their favorites! Teachers are forever students! Not only do they learn each day in their classrooms, but they also learn from their peers during Professional Learning Team (PLT) meetings. During today's PLT meeting, one of the CTAE lead teachers, Betty Smith, opened the meeting with an inspirational message. She shared that fall is her favorite season of the year because of the changes observed. She connected these changes to the changes we see in our students that require love, encouragement, inspiration, and guidance. Fun with motion! 🎢 Mrs. Hallman's second grade class has been learning about forces and motion in science!! The students were able to plan and create their own marble mazes using paper plates and straws! The students were then able to test their mazes and adjust them as necessary to ensure the marble was able to go through the maze! #ReadySetGrow
